Default RIP - Matt Eastman (Founder - Eastman Gun Shows)

I was quite surprised to read that Matt Eastman had passed away this past weekend. He was only 72, and he was a very young man by my standards. I first met Matt in the early 1960s after he and his family had moved to Fitzgerald, GA from NYC. We lost touch over the years but it was a very pleasant surprise to see that he was operating the Eastman Gun Shows throughout the State of Georgia when I returned in 2010. There may also be some forum members who have attended those shows from time to time in the past

The following passage is an extract from his obituary:

"He was the Founder and President of Eastman Gun Shows, Inc. He was the author of “Browning Sporting Arms of Distinction 1903-1992” and “Matt Eastman’s Guide to Browning Belgium Sporting Firearms 1903-1994”. Mr. Eastman also wrote firearms reference books as he was the only Browning authority given permission by the Browning family to reproduce reference books. He was an avid supporter of Shriners’ Hospitals for Children, graciously allowing Shriners to collect money at his gun shows. This benevolent act resulted in well over $100,000 being donated to the charity by his gun show patrons."

RIP

Hi Bill, sorry for your loss. This season has been a bust, too much sadness already.
