Does anyone know what kind of car Lois Lane drives in the original TV series Superman?

It is a convertible looking car but has full door and window frames on all the side widows.

If any group on the internet knows I'm sure it will be someone in this forum. Smartest bunch of people on the net!

And that scene is from the movie Superman and the Mole People, 1951. Guess that would be the pilot of the show, since the TV show started in 1952. Then busted in half and put out as a two-parter, episodes 25 and 26 the first year, The Unknown People.

Who played Lois back then? Superman? I used to know Superman's name, the actor. I think he committed suicide with a Luger, but there's a theory that he was really shot by a contract killer.

Anyone else watching the new, Supergirl series? I've decided it's sort of okay, and sometimes good. But I have quarrels with some of the casting.

After the first season's filming was completed, actress Phyllis Coates made other commitments and did not return as Lois Lane for the second season. Noel Neill (who had played the character in the theatrical serials) stepped into the role, and remained until the series' cancellation. George Reeves was the original Superman.

Would depend on the year.... "The Adventures of Superman" TV series ran from 1952 to 1958. Lois Lane was played by Phyllis Coates in 24 episodes from 1952 to 1953 then Noel Neill in the remaining 78 episodes from 1953 to 1958. The actress in the picture above looks to be Phyllis Coates. The license place is an early 50's California plate.

I dated a coed in college that owned that exact car. I scoffed at it and made fun of it, but totally taken back when asked to do a little maintenance on it. I was amazed at its obvious quality of construction. I never saw any of the 'Superman' movies, but did meet Chris Reeves several time while I was showing my Morgan Horses in Horse Shows. He too owned Morgans (or a girl friend did; I never knew for sure) and would be in the stands watching them show. He was very approachable and a very nice guy. ...............

Before there was a TV series, there were Superman serials, starting around 1948, which eventually found their way onto TV as reruns. I remember seeing them later. Kirk Alyn played Superman:

I love seeing the old pics of forests of oil wells in the background in California. How many people today never knew it once looked like that?

l bet the 'greenies' would soil themselves seeing pictures of what THEIR BEACH was once like.

I don't think Superman played Lois, no.

Originally, that was a serial strung together as a feature length movie. There were at least two Superman and Batman serials.

Neill and Coates, were also in zillions//it seemed// of B Westerns and tv western episodes. They also sadly, had a bad rivalry going on. Coates passed away but not sure when? and last I heard, Neill was still alive.

The death of Superman actor George Reeves has long been one of those Hollywood Mysteries.
It was officially ruled suicide, but has long been thought to actually be a murder. Too many details just don't fit the suicide theory and it was rumored that Reeves had an affair with a gangster's wife.
Much has been written on the subject, but I doubt we'll ever know for sure what happened.

I remember George playing Claudette Colbert's boy friend in "So Proudly We Hail". I think Veronica Lake was in it too. Did you know he really couldn't fly? He showed up in a car at a Cub Scout jamborie I attended in around '55. Fortunately Davy Crockett started on TV after I learned Superman was a phony.

The first sun roof or maybe moon roof! Except for electronics, who says anything new is invented?

I don't see a record of either of them passing away. Neill is in her late 90s.

Not sure but, I think it was on yahoo news? It might be a sick rumor too--like when they recently reported that Cher, had died.

The first time I ever went to Long Beach, CA I was amazed to see oil wells in town on city lots!
I had seen plenty of oilwells - fields in TX, OK, LA and places like that.
But not in town!

As a AMC/Jeep mechanic in the early '70's I was fixing the little Nash ramblers. And jeeps that have been under water since ww2. Try removing a floor plan to put a clutch in one of those. I quit in '76 to become a machinist. I have a buddy, who is a family friend, co worker who we went from job to job together from sinking ship to sinking ship together closing companies.
My point is all the old timers we worked with are gone, passed on, ever think about that? I mentioned some of our old co workers to my buddy he turns to me and says there all gone. I had to stop and think about that. We were in our 20's they were between 50/60yo. I'm 65yo now. There all passed on. Life goes by so fast.

This was in a stack of photos my wife had from her grandparents.

That little rambler American six cylinder was one of the best cars ever.
The six cylinder block design became the 232, 258 and the 4.0L six. These were good long lasting engines.

Were those later on the Jeep motors?
