This is nothing new,but something I often wonder about. I notice that some members who have thousands upon thousands of posts, many having RECEIVED thousands of "likes" have only GIVEN 2 or 3 or NO "likes". I can't imagine that given the time they spend here how they never run across anything deserving of the fraction of a second it takes to click on an icon to show their appreciation of,or agreement with, posts that they respond to with such frequency. Has to be a reason. Just curious as to what it might be. Any thoughts?

There ya go Tom. :D
What they ought to do is scrub everything-post count likes etc and everyone start over equal!

Didn't they do that, about seven or eight years ago? Seems like the board changed formats, and post counts and likes were lost--only join dates were preserved. And there was much weeping and
lamentation, etc. (And by etc. I mean tantrums and futile demands for justice.)

Or am I getting senile and misremembering?

Edit: To answer fat tom's original question......I don't know!!!! Just like there are threads I follow; but don't post in.

Thinkin hard on the question...................................................
I think............ I save my "likes"........ for when I want to give "2 thumbs up"..........:)

I'll be the first to admit I used to be stingy with likes. Like you said, though, it doesn't hurt to show some sincere appreciation back from time to time.

This is not a criticism but merely an observation . . .

Some folks are just more inclined to acknowledge the contributions of others. That's not so say they don't appreciate it . . . just that they don't make the effort to acknowledge it.

I can't get too concerned about "likes" on the internet, but see this same tendency as a fault in bosses with their subordinates . . . and parents with their children.

Maybe some people don't like anything? :D
This is one of only a couple of forums I frequent that even has a LIKE button.
I need to use the button more I guess.

Every forum has their run of members who only like what they post.like is the quickest way to show either support,or admiration for a fellow member who took the time to share something.Generally anyone who refuses to make this simplest of effort, usually regards themselves as a self proclaimed expert in all areas ,and is quick to post advice on almost any topic.I have seen this on many forums.

There is supposedly a formula that you can use that you plug in the 3 values of the likes, liked, and posts and it will reveal your basic personality profile. Why else would they bother to record all that? I think it will reveal if you are a generous, a stingy, an intelligent, a not so intelligent, a nice, or a downright evil personality. It can tell you far more than just that, but I just don’t recall the full formula, but it did involve a quadratic equation.
