Old TV Shows and the Automobiles

Gotta mention Route 66. The Vette was as much of a cast member as Todd and Buzz.

I don't know if Miami Vice is old enough, but I loved that first Ferrari. Broke my heart (really it did :D) when I found out the producers were so cheap they used a kit car instead of the real thing!

George Nader

George Nader did a show called Shannon in which he drove a 1961 Buick Special.

I don't remember this show, it didn't last long and no pictures of the car could be found?

...was a pretty cool dude. Had a limited film career, got blacklisted from Hollywood around 1963 or so. I seem to remember he tried to get some work overseas, but I don't know.

Recall Don Johnson drove a CUDA in Nash Bridges. Favorite movie for me was Vanishing Point from 1971 featuring Barry Newman driving my favorite Dodge Challenger. Great having the DVD. Just wish I still had my car!!

I knew a girl one time that purchased a Firebird just like that because Jim Rockford drove one? She thought that was the coolest car ever! I guess she was in love with Jim Rockford?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I read somewhere that James Garner did most of all his stunt driving?

Yes-and he found that car and restored it as well.

I heard it was a corvette that had a face lift(?)

The show was recent, but the car was a classic:

The Mentalist, who drove an old Citroen. The star faked a US accent, but is an Aussie. The car, of course, is French.

I wasn't into cars when 77 Sunset Strip ran. Which car did Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. drive? I think Kookie Barnes or Burns was a valet who brought him his car.

As a kid, I liked a show called, White Hunter. Starred Rex or Rhodes Reason. He was either two men or used different names on several shows. The vehicles were safari trucks and Land Rovers, of course. Ditto for a favorite movie from about 1956, Safari. I bought the DVD last year & watched it as an adult, adding even more viewing pleasure.

The only car that I've driven that's mentioned here was a Pontiac Firebird. I thought it and the Chev. Camaro had too restricted a rear view. But chicks liked them, so they had that advantage.

I used to date a girl who drove a mid-sized Mercedes. I liked that one!

More recently, my son and his wife had a souped-up Audi that was really nice. But that's beyond the scope of this topic.
