I went to gander mountain with my daughter to look at the Taurus g2 and m&p shield. She liked the look of both so I told her we could look at them. When I asked the clerk about the g2 he told me they have been recalled again. The only reason I was letting her debate between the two was because the g2 wasn't one of the taurus guns with problems. So she look d at the shield and will probably go that route. I did look for the recall online and didn't find anything about it. Made me wonder if the clerk was just trying to persuade me to the higher price point. I personally liked the shield over the g2 but the pistol would be for my daughter so was willing to help her with her options.

If you trust a Gander Mountain or Cabela's salesclerk, you deserve what you get.

As far as I know (and I have a G2), there has been no recall on them. The only issue is the "mushy" feeling trigger. My wife had (has) one and went to the Glock 43 (she now has 2 Glocks=one in the nightstand and one in her purse). Two of her friends have shot the Taurus and didn't like it but both do like the G43.

BTW: None of the 3 like the Glock 26! The G26 also doesn't seem to like them because it is the only Glock I've seen jam and only with them! (Limp wristing?)

The G2 works. I've got one. The fit and finish are reasonable for a gun I got last summer new w/ 2 12rd mags for $150 after $50 factory rebate. Trigger stinks but has 2nd strike capability. BTW Mecgar SIG 226 18 rd mags function perfectly with no mods and only stick out about an inch below the grip. It's my backyard gun

Had the pt111 gen1 - hated the trigger
Had the the shield in 9mm - hated the trigger

Compact for me now is an sd9ve with a slide cerakoted in coyote tan.
