I have a pair of Nocona elephant cowboy boots I bought at the KC Chucks boots in 1986. I do not wear them to clean barns. I have used them riding horses. I keep them clean and use leather preserver on them.

My son wore them with a tux to his prom. I've worn then to many weddings and one divorce. My SIL was best man at his brothers wedding and wore them under his tux

Every where I go I now see square toed cowboy boots.

Feel free to chip in with your thoughts. FYI I'm wearing my pointed toe Nocona even if folks don't like it at their Bbq.

Those are fine Boots there pard.
I had a pair of Larry Mahans once and wore them everywhere
from grandpaws farm to running around town.

Sounds like you have a great pair of boots, as to the square toe boots being popular I have no clue how that started. I bought one of the first pairs I saw with a square toe in Texas several years ago. Seems to me that there is more room in the toes that way. I prefer round toe boots now though.

BOOTS

I have been wearing cowboy boots most of my life, just can't like the square toed ones. My Noconas are due for a trip to the retread shop, but I have enough Tony Lamas and Lucheses in reserve to get me through till they are done. Square toed boots don't give me anymore room, my second toe is way longer than my big toe, evidently my feet were made for fence climbing corner killers:rolleyes:

Love me some Lama's

I only have 4 pairs of cowboy boots. 3 Noconas & my dress caiman Luccheses. I haven't worn "roach killers" in years, but I still wear medium toe or rounded toe boots. Satan will wear snowshoes to work before I wear square toed boots. Growing up, I was always told that square toes were "biker" boots.

The people that wear square toes tell me they're more comfortable, but then men who wear dresses tell me they're comfortable too. Don't make me no nevermind what you wear, but I think I'll pass on the squares (and the dresses! :D ) .

My round toed Shark Tony Lama's are what I wear. I don't have any plans to change that either.

I guess I'm the odd one here, I like my Double H wide toes more than my traditional toe Tony Lamas. Then again, I don't ride horses so don't need the functionality of the pointy toe for getting into stirrups.

I had a pair of Justin peanut brittle lizard that I loved. Took many years
to wear them out. Bought black Justin lizard to replace them.
Both with the pointed toe. Somehow I don't like them as well.
Have a pair of plain tan Justin ropers with round toe. They are ok but
I don't like the looks of the square toe. Didn't the Dingos strart
that square toe trend?

Many many moons ago, I had a pair of gray Nocona Kidskin (baby goat) boots. These things were as comfortable right out of the box, as a pair you've had for several years. I had the soles replaced twice over the years before they finally got so worn out, that they began to fall apart and I had to retire them.

I've seen the square toed boots you speak of and in my opinion, they are just downright *****. I could deal with the round toe version if need be but, the traditional style toe is still my favorite.

Seriously??? I put an "f" in front of "ugly" and it got censored???

I've still got a pair of Acme's; Nothing fancy or expensive but very serviceable. I always preferred the round tip to square, when I wore them. I find it interesting that no one has mentioned a preference in heel, as in walking vs riding, etc. I always preferred the riding heel.

These days, for health & other reasons, my "boots" are made by New Balance!:D

I bought a pair of cowboy boots once. Don't know how you guys wear them. It's like walking around in clogs. I understand the leather wears in but the hard soles do not. Tried it for 2 days and no thanks.

I have a pair of the pointy toe cowboy boots that I always thought looked great but hardly nobody in Oklahoma wears pointy toe boots anymore and if you see a guy wearing them it's usually a senior citizen. All the real cowboys and farm/ranch people wear the square toed boots with walking heals and wide thick soles. They probably are more comfortable but I never liked the look of the wide double welt soles. I have a pair of Justin square steel toe boots I got free from a place I worked and they look good and wear like iron, but it took a LONG time to get them broken in.

I have four pairs of Lucchese ropers (most tough ostrich belly - I don't like that full-quill look, which seems as dated as shag carpet): black, light brown, dark brown and burgundy. That should do me.

I look at these as vaguely formal footwear for our high desert state (I don't wear them with suits to court or formal weddings/funerals, but I will frequently wear them with the nice jeans and a blazer to anything one level below that). I don't sit a horse or pretend to pester cattle, but these boots make me happy.

When I'm not wearing steel toed boots for work I like my Boulets, nothing fancy though. I have one pair with a square toe and one with a more rounded toe, no real preference although the square ones have a lower heel and a rubber sole so they tend to get worn more during the winter months.

I just picked up a "new" pair of kickers made by International Shoe Co and they are a little different, but pretty comfortable!
