Been in the habit about 55 years myself.

We may have rain, earthquakes and volcanoes up here, BUT, we don't have Big Game Bugs! If I were in your situation and a hairy beast dropped out of my boot, something probably would have dropped out of me - and I'd have to change my shorts!

That 1/2 section south and west of San Antone....has stuff on it that bites scratches sticks ya bakes ya and I don't know how the cows make a living on it..That's the good things...............then there's snakes spiders and other sharp pointed bugs scorpions fire ants. Saw the biggest rattler ever there...think he had 6 inch fangs...a saber tooth rattlesnake..and the prickly pear cactus make the ones we have here look tiny

I got a dry bite from a black widow. Just two little red dots, no poison!

I keep my canvas yard Crocs stashed in the carport and I'll always shake out the odd leaf that blows in after one time slipping them on with a small anole inside. The wiggle under my arch damn near caused spontaneous sphincter release.
