Speaking of the Coen Brothers, Give me your Opinion Of "O Brother Where Art Thou"

I loved how they sowed numerous threads into this movie and brought them all home at the end.

There are so many delightful quotes from this movie. One of many favorite is when Pete asked Ulysses, "What does Satan look like?" Ulysses answers..." Well there are all manners of lesser imps or demons Pete but the great Satan himself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail and he carries a hay fork!"

Another Great movie from the Coen Bros.

I liked the part John Goodman played and his conversation
with Clooney.

I also like the character of Pretty Boy Floyd in the movie.

The scene at Woolworths.

The scene with the little kid and the rifle...then driving the getaway car.

My english teacher wife drug me to see a somewhat modern version of Homer's the Odyssey set in Alabama 1930's. I LOVED IT. Couldn't get enough. We have gone to the motion picture show 4 times to see it, probably 8 times watched it on DVD. "Pete, we thought you was a toad".

Your English teacher wife needs to put you in the corner with the DUNCE cap.

"Drug" is a noun. She "dragged" you to the flick. :p

The part at the beginning where they're voting-Delmer says

"Well, I'm with you fellas!" Priceless.

If I had to choose 100 all time movies, this would be one of them.

Stellar soundtrack.

Did you catch the part with Wash's boy shooting the old WWI Springfield '06?

I forgot about the music in this picture. You are spot on. I never much cared for the Bluegrass genre until I saw those three beautiful sirens singing in the creek washing their clothes. Wow!

The music is outstanding. I bought the CD and enjoy it.
Thanks for the reminder.....going to dig it out and give
it a listen. I was born and raised where Bluegrass was born
....Southwest Virginia. When I was a kid, didn't like
the "string music" that my dad listened to. Boy have I
changed.

I'm pretty sure it was Mississippi. The man made lake that caused all the trouble is real and is in the northern part of that state.

Definitely Mississippi. Much of it was filmed around Canton, Mississippi. I remember when it was being filmed.

A great movie with great music and many good quotes. I watch is whenever it is on. Here's one of my favorite quotes by Ulysses:

"A woman is the most fiendish instrument of torture ever devised to bedevil the days of man."

I had no interest in seeing it, though I like bluegrass. Gina was watching it on one of the premium cable channels one time and I was walking back and forth through the room doing stuff. On my third time through I said, "Hey, this is The Odyssey!" (I'd had no idea), and sat down to watch it. I recorded it and watched it all the way through after that - turned out to be quite captivating movie! :)

I'll have to try it again. I loved the score--my fondness for bluegrass and old-time country music is strong--but simply couldn't get into the movie.

Clearly I didn't get far enough in to recognize the hand of Homer.
