Cowboys inspired me to collect S&W's. Being a young boy, I'll never forget them cow hands with their spurs on and weathered by the dry air, with their spurs and belts and holsters clanking. This was the early 80's, but it is still one of my best childhood, hect, any of the memories out West...

Yes, I've always enjoyed Marty Robbins.

There's a very funny video on YouTube showing Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins together, and Merle does his imitation of Robbins. It's hilarious!

Apparently, my internet is slow today. However, I was commenting that it is before my time, but I enjoy thinking of hearing this on WSM, or Nashville, back in the day.....with the oil lamps on and good food on the stove.........

In 2010 we were camped up above Vallecito Lake in Colorado and got tickets to go to the Bar D Chuckwagon supper and show about 11 miles north of Durango and they got 4 guys that play and sing and put on a good show. They had a guy that sang Marty Robbin's song of El Paso better than anyone I have ever heard besides Marty himself. I mean to tell you those guys were good. The food was good too. Try them if you are ever up that way.

My wife and I saw Marty Robbins and Merle Haggard perform at the Hollywood Bowl in 1973. It was one of the best shows we have ever seen and the place was packed. So much of the show was unscripted and the music was the best. I used to have their music on record albums, then CD's, now they are all on flash drives.

When working midnights at the car factory out in the guard shack we listened to WBAP an Bill Mack. On two different occasions Marty came to WBAP and sat in on the Bill Mack show. Marty had his guitar and sang many songs. I stayed on the gate four hours straight just to hear these two shows. Unbelievable music. His sense of humor was great also.
