My and my families favorite (my Mom's kin are West Texas reprobates). El Paso, Streets of Laredo, Devil Woman, Ribbon of Darkness....he had more soul in one song than the whole of Country music does today.

Marty was part of that time. I really enjoyed his crossover hits also.

He was my dad's favorite. We listened to the records every weekend. I think I was maybe 7 or 8 when my parents hauled me to Pittsburgh to a concert.

being that I am strictly a rock and metal kind of guy, my wife wondered why I liked Marty so much and how I knew the music so well. I often hit the Sirius/Xm station that he is played on often am lucky enough to catch on of his songs.

I think she understands more now that dad is gone and some of the songs release the dust bunnies.

can find on Youtube as well as Marty's.
