Maybe be behind the release date abit but
I just caught a movie of Netflix.
"Wind River"

Pretty good with a great shootout scene.

We just saw it. I really liked it. A bit brutal for some I guess, but I would watch it again,

Not as "brutal" as either of those.

Subject matter of the death of a young Indian Girl on the reservation, and the bleakness/sadness of it all,

I do not like a lot of movies these days, but it is pretty well done.

Wind River (2017) - IMDb

Thanks for the tip and heads up. We just finished watching. We enjoyed the movie very much. Good people and very well written and acted.

I saw it in the theater and liked it so much that I pre-ordered the dvd release. I found it to be far more realistic than the vast majority of films out there. I think it is by far among the very best of films that have been released in recent years. My only complaint, and it is a minor one that I can easily dismiss for the sake of the story, is that I have spent a lot of time near drill rigs and have never seen security anywhere near that heavily armed, even in high drug traffic areas along the Rio Grande.

If you liked it, I highly recommend Hell or High Water with Jeff Bridges as a Texas Ranger investigating a string of bank robberies in West Texas. The writer / director of Wind River, Taylor Sheridan, also wrote Hell or High Water and patterned Jeff Bridges' character after one of his relatives, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara, a retired US Marshal.

Watched it last night.

Nice to see the 45-70 in action. He loaded his own rounds and it's a Marlin SBL, so you know he was making Marlin level loads - 420g bullets @ 1800fps. That's how I make them for mine.

I got a thrill out of how they punched through whatever was in front of the BG's.

Well done movie. I could have done without the draw ropes pulling folks when they got hit, making it seem like a Mack truck hit them, but it was fun to see those that deserved it getting it.

Mine is the blue version, a GBL.

"...wolves don't kill unlucky deer." Good movie. Really good.

To repeat a posting earlier on this forum,
the writer is Taylor Sheridan, who also did
Sicario and Hell or High Water.

He played Deputy Hale for a couple seasons
of Sons of Anarchy.

Another writer/director to watch out for is
Brian Helgeland, who wrote screenplay for
LA Confidential and among his other credits
Payback Straight Up, A Knights Tale and Legend.

I liked both those movies also and as I said before not many good films out there anymore (at least new ones I have not seen)

No one has an original idea, all these remakes are ridiculous.
