How would you calculate how much further east is Nags Head NC than Myrtle Beach SC? In statute miles.

longitude grid on a map or google map, looks to be approximately 190 statute or 165 nautical miles...but I ain't no sailor so don't take it as a certainty.

I don't know how much info others need to solve a simple problem using basic arithmetic. Using Google or a map find the longitude for each location to use as your two fixed points, subtract and convert the difference to miles.

Except that lines of longitude converge at the poles. At the equator, a degree of longitude is 60 miles, making a minute 1 mile. Just sayin

True, but for the purpose discussed above, the gradual convergence of longitudinal lines as they approach the poles would have no meaningful impact.

The math seems straightforward but I don't know the difference between cosine and cosign.
