Delivery methods!

Delivery people are just being human. Sometimes that means they make mistakes. Sometimes it means they're lazy. All in all, I've had good luck with a smattering of both characteristics along the way.

One driver left 5 flats of shotshells in front of the garage door (in the rain) because they were presumably too heavy to get to the front porch.

Another driver pulled into the driveway and hung out for a while. He paused so long I went out to see what was up. He couldn't find my package in the truck. Then an "aha moment" occurred. He said he misdelivered it and went back to get it. He shortly returned with it and apologized.

Finally, one time I noticed the mail carrier stop at the mailbox, so I wandered out the get the mail. I found a certified mail, "nobody home" notice in the box. The carrier didn't even try to deliver it. I got in my truck and tracked her down. "You want me to take off work next week to go get the dang letter????" She just said "I have a lot of mail to deliver." THAT set me off and I said give me the **** letter. Which with my ID, she did. She did have a rather sheepish look at that point.

Like I said, people make mistakes and can be lazy. These three events are about all I can complain about in a multitude of deliveries. Life is good!

Being retired I have lots of time to watch the going on in my neighborhood {Ok I am just nosey}. One day last December the UPS truck pulled up to my neighbor cross the street and I sat and watched the UPS guy unload 84 packages in his yard and porch. I counted each one as he pulled them from the truck. Then the home owner sorted them and loaded a bunch of them in his truck and left, Couple of hours he was back and got the rest and took off with them. He is Latino and is a great neighbor having been there for years. I think he was receiving packages for some of his countrymen who would prefer that their address not be known.

I'm thinking that these days anybody with a car can deliver packages ... and Amazon just might be encouraging this method of delivery. Probably why your packages aren't delivered the same way twice.
Anybody received the email with photo of the delivered package in front of your house yet? I have and not sure if it's something I like.

A few years ago my wife got one of those. It was a handgun coming back from a manufacture after repair. It clearly stated "Adult Signature Required''! She was quite POed and called the company and got this BS reason, because of Covid it limited exposure . The company said this was acceptable.
I shudder to think living here in NY state of going to the Sheriffs and making a report of a missing legal handgun. We still would be filling out papers!

About the only gripe I've got is they don't knock on the door, just drop and go. On the other hand, no one has ever bothered a delivery and some have set out overnight.

As an aside, I ordered a couple of things from Amazon yesterday morning. They got here yesterday afternoon.

If you have a complaint about one of your delivery service companies, venting on a gun forum is ok with me as long as you're taking action to make sure it doesn't happen again.

At UPS, everything is now AI. UPS drivers used to line up their own route, and run it in the most efficient manner.
No more.
Now UPS management, and the computer program they use determines how a route gets delivered. Now, almost any brain dead idiot that doesn't even know how to drive a manual transmission can chuck bundles.
*Please note: I did NOT just call all UPS drivers idiots. I said the SYSTEM is set up so that any idiot can deliver. Corporate UPS has decided that they, from Atlanta, know better than the local drivers, how to run the route that a driver has been on for years.

To the guy who has time to watch his gate camera, and sees a delivery vehicle "speeding" past his gate, please explain to me how you know for certain that particular vehicle contains your package. Clairvoiyance? X-ray vision? Jedi mind power? Did you ever stop to think there's more than one delivery driver, and there's a possibility that you're not the center of the universe?

I can only speak for the company for which I've worked for 43 years, UPS. UPS, just like S&W is NOT the company it was 30 years ago. Just like the new Colt and S&W revolvers, at first glance, things look the same. But they most certainly are not.
