Drive In Movie Theater Near You ?

There are a couple in the greater Denver metro area.

I’ve been trying to get my son and granddaughter to go with me but haven’t had much luck.

Do they still have a security guy wandering around with a flashlight, knocking on car windows to keep the kids from necking instead of watching the movie?

There is one in the small town of Mobridge S.D.. I lived there for a while and still visit. In the summer they show first run movies. The owner also owns the indoor theater downtown which is closed in the summer.

A few miles south of Port Townsend, WA there is the Wheel-In drive-in theater. How it survived the crash of 2008 is anybody’s guess. Until this summer it always seemed to be on the verge of extinction, now it’s going great guns.

We have one a in Ocala 20 miles South of me. I think it has done well in the virus months and survived through the change to digital. Of the few that were left many did not survive the conversion from film to digital so they could continue to show the more recent movies.

The last one we went to was while on vacation in Vermont, we were in the farmers field. That had to be in the early 80’s.
Besides Barry Whites music I wonder how many babies were made in drive ins.

One thing I remember is staying after the movie ended and changing one of my racing slicks that went flat.

There is one about 30 miles from me. We went once this spring. With no release of new movies we haven’t been back. Would go if they had new movies.

Not that we saw, but we did see a guy in a golf car that appeared to be asking folks to keep the back of their SUV level with the roof so others could see. He had twine and helped them tie it down. All in all it was a nice night. 15 bucks to get in and another few bucks for popcorn and some snacks. Something to do. They only allowed one vehicle per speaker post and they were bagged but turned up on high. They also had the sound broadcast on an FM station that you could tune in.

None near me that I am aware of. The last time we went to a drive-in was probably 20 years ago. We were vacationing in the north Georgia mountains around Halloween. There was a small drive-in in the small town of Tiger, GA. They were showing one of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies on a night with a full moon. A low fog rolled in and you could barely see the screen. Kinda creepy!
