So, has everyone read that article on The Galactic Federation of Extraterrestrials?

I just read an article on NBC News about some Israeli Space Security officer who claims that the United States has been in contact with extraterrestrials who are part of a "Galactic Federation" and how they're the reason for the foundation of the USSF. (United States Space Force)

Former Israeli space security chief says extraterrestrials exist, and Trump knows about it

Now, I've already recently stated my opinion on the existence of advanced extraterrestrial life on this very forum, so it's there if you want to read it in full, but the short version is that I'm of the opinion that if there does exist advanced extraterrestrial life that is capable of interstellar travel, then they probably aren't very interested in this otherwise primitive society.

However, I'm curious what other people make of this article, because it just strikes me as so odd that an otherwise mainstream news outlet like NBCNews would print an article like this, especially when there's no shortage of other juicy topics to run articles on which aren't based on the testimony of a single man from a foreign nation.

I'm certain extraterrestrials exist. I'm also certain that Earth is the place they pass by with their windows rolled up and their doors locked!

I do believe that their are some alien life forms masquerading as humans and some of them have mad it into the government already.

It is the only explanation that makes sense.

That's completely absurd!

The government is run by a terrestrial race of advanced subterranean reptiles which evolved from dinosaurs which masquerades as elderly humans because it makes it easier to mask their scaley/wrinkly skin.
Their only weakness are human pheromones which are secreted when in a state of fear, hence why they must remain hidden because the mere sight of them is so terrifying that they would die the instant a human being laid eyes on them. ;)

.... based on the testimony of a single man from a foreign nation.

Notice it was filed under “weird news”.

The main cause for the attention seems to be that the guy, Haim Eshed, was a general and held a high government position, back when he was still sane (well, one hopes he was ... ).

A bit of useful background:

The Jerusalem Post article where NBC lifted this story, as referenced in the link, was published in their OMG section (for “oh my gosh”), where you find weird and silly stuff. It wasn’t meant to be news. The JP article also implied the suspicion that Eshed’s new pronouncements might be a publicity stunt pushed out by a private (so far failed) Israeli group that wants to land on the moon. NBC likely left that bit out because a US audience doesn’t know the context.
