Comcast provided Norton Security Suite free to their customers, but that’s ending today. I have my own router/modem and don’t want to lease their Xfi Gateway? Which has its own security, so it looks like I’m on my own.

Norton is offering a special deal to Comcast customers on their 360 deluxe at $15 for the first year, but then it jumps to over $100 per year.

I don’t even know what all that means! I’ve been reading up on it and am getting a headache.

Any suggestions to protect a HP PC from virus and malware threats?

I use Norton and am very happy with it. You should be able to protect up to four devices with that subscription, and you’d have to deal with more than one product to get all the features the 360 offers . . .

Avast.....:D:D been great for me.

I've been using Avast Free for a decade and fully satisfied with it myself. It's free for personal use and their nag screens aren't too intrusive; just a little popup on the lower right side of the screen every once in a while that closes itself out.

There is an very recent thread in The Lounge titled "Anti-Virus Alternatives for Comcast Users - Need Suggestions".

I suggest reading through that for good info and recommendations.
