I wondered how this would evolve. Matthew Eastman died on November 29, 2015.

Thanks for the updates. I have not been in quite a while, principally due to the Covid-19 risks. However, the last time that I attended one in north Georgia the shows were back to "The Three Js" - Jewelry, Junk, and Jerky.

Other forum members may have different opinions.

Does anyone have any experiences with R K Shows?

I had GOOD EXPERIENCE with RK Shows.

I had GOOD EXPERIENCE with RK Shows.

For the Paducah KY shows RK would have many billboards both in Paducah and in some surrounding counties.
These billboards would attract NEW attendees to the show.

Have had pleasant conversations with many first time attendees.
Some made deals, some didn't, but they were at the show.

Another promoter relied on post cards sent to previous attendees who had entered a drawing.
Same old crowd - not new blood.

The RK crew was very pleasant and efficient. Security was never a problem.

RK tried to make some inroads here in flyover country before the COVID. The shows they managed to pull off were poorly attended and had few tables. Along with that, the cover was high. Hard to get traction here with the established shows dominating the market . . .

Many years ago, I used to volunteer to work a booth signing up new members for our state 2A organization at Eastman shows. Although he was kind enough to donate the space, he seemed to hate that the booths required people to run them. I worked 6 or 7, making a 100 mi. round trip each time. He reminded me too much of my old man; take that as you will.

Well, he’s been dead for six years, so there’s that . . .

RK shows are here in Topeka three or four times a year. They are average to adequate, but not Tulsa or Denver. They will sell table space to anyone for anything. I go mostly to see old friends and to talk with some of my favorite dealers. You can print a two dollar coupon on their web site. Sometimes you can find the hidden acorn. I have come to recognize a lot of the guns for sale from seeing them from year to year.

Matt made a few enemies along the way. Raymond, his son-in-law, was always cordial with me. Eastman's North Atlanta Trade Center show was always good, but that place shut down several years ago. The shows have changed a lot in the last 10 years or so. The people coming through the doors don't seem to bring much of any thing like they used to. I don't do these shows to make money like new gun and ammo vendors. I do them for the comradery and the buying opportunities. I think the experience is what you make it. The other thing is I like to hold the gun in my hand before I buy it.
