Cateract surgery yesterday

I had my litt'l Dashund eyes done a couple of years back now..(No Vet insurance..ouch) Also, very few Vets can do the procedure...But she can see just fine now..Best thing I ever had done for her.:) She can see those pesky squirrels just fine, and find her toys where I toss them.

One of the funny side effects for a while was, when she had to wear her cone of shame. Because she is so low to the ground, the cone would get in the way for her to eat from her bowl of food,or get a drink of water so I would have to hand feed her, or give her water from my hand.:)

WuzzFuzz

But I'm curious. My driver's license specifies I wear corrective lenses. I guess I have to go back to the DMV, take an eye test, get a whole new license..?

I would not worry about it until time to renew then tell examiner. If you do get stopped explain it. You could even demonstrate to the LEO you can see well. At this point it is so common most would understand and if not show a Dr exam report to judge.

In 1999 I had lasik and went from 20/400 to 20/20. Waited till I renewed and the examiner didn't even blink an eye when I passed the eye test.

I had a rough week in regards to the cheap reading glasses. I had 4 of them, at about $10 each, break within a few days. All in all, I've broken 10 pairs of them, at least in less than a year, and I don't have a head butting dog or dogs anymore, they are just junk, so I decided to have a really good pair made. One of the online glasses places had a sale on frames, so I decided to get a pair made with reader lenses, made from the same polycarbonate my "real" glasses are made with, in the same frames, Safilo Elasta 3055's, the strongest frames made, IMHO. Not cheap, but about the same price as the readers I've tossed into the trash if I total them up. They should be here Friday.

In a few days, I'm going to have the YAG laser on my left eye, which is my master eye, to vaporize my secondary cataract, which makes rays come out of any bright lights I see and the rays have rainbows in them. The secondary cataract is dead center in the sharpest part of my vision, so it's annoying. I have a secondary one in my right eye too, but it's on the outside edge and probably won't be any problem. Other than the rainbow thing, my almost a year since my very bad right eye was done has been just great. I don't need glasses to drive, and the lenses in my glasses are about 25% as thick as they used to be.

In my 40 years as a lawyer actively practicing in criminal court I have NEVER witnessed a citation for not wearing glasses. As a Judge, if a LEO brought a citation to court for not wearing glasses I would chew him a new rectal orifice.
There is a crime of injuring public records in Louisiana which encompasas allowing false information to be placed on a public document. If they want to push this to the extreme, every woman in the USA would be a convicted felon for lying about their weight on their drivers license

Back when my Mom had cataract surgery, they kept the eye covered with gauze for a day or two. When I took Mom back to the doc to have them remove the gauze and check her vision, my sister-in-law told me to pay attention to what Mom said when they first took the bandage off. Typically, people (like Caj) talk about how vivid and bright colors are.

So when they took the bandage off, Mom looked at me and exclaimed, "Wow! You look real plain!" Hopefully she meant that she could see me plainly, but.... :(

Had the right one done. Sometimes my right vision is like the lens has shifted. Makes me feel like I have Jack Elan eyes.

I had mine done in 2018. One month apart.

Like many the differences in colors was amazing. Absolutely amazing.

The surgeon put in long distance lenses and also implanted a stent in each eye to facilitate drainage for my glacoma.

I am now 20/20 and have a new drivers license w/o corrective lenses required. I also no longer have to take eye drops for my glaucoma.

I am still amazed at how beautiful this world is with good vision.
