Watched this old James Bond film from 1967 last night- very fun movie. Non- P.C. to the hilt action, gunplay, cute girls, old school British and Yankee entertainment.

You Only Live Twice (film - Wikipedia)

If you have spent time in Japan you will Esp. enjoy it and if you have the blues about the state of the world today it will cheer you to see this old way movie.

The Life & Legacy of Donn F. Draeger

The great Budoka and martial arts researcher Donn Draeger was the martial arts instructor for this film. I know people who knew him in Japan, everyone in the Japanese martial arts respected the man.

Had not watched "You Only Live Twice" it for years for sure- a top three Bond Film.

It's high on my JB movie preference list, but I can't rank them. I'd say my top 3 would be YOLT, Moonraker, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I guess I am one of the few who thought George Lazenby did a pretty good job as JB. Forget anything with Daniel Craig.

Gee, can't wait for the "gender neutral don't know what sex I am" new Bond to come out that's been touted as maybe coming in the next movie?

Yeah I took my wife to the most recent Bond movie bleh the new '007' movie was so woke it put me to sleep.

Fleming is hollering up there in Valhalla slamming martinis and looking for his PPK.

I don't think I will go see Bond, James Bond in the theatre any more- I have the original big fun 007 on DVD.

Any Bond but Moore.

True, his one liners are corny, but the scenery in "For Your Eyes Only" is fantastic! Gotta love the deep diving gear (cheesy rain suit) they used when recovering the A.T.A.C. in 400 ft of water, not to mention how light it is in the Mediterranean at that depth. :D

I have DVDs of most of the JB movies made prior to Craig and occasionally watch them if nothing else is on TV. Over a year ago, my grandson (who was about 11 at the time) and I had a JB binge-a-thon and watched all of them over a couple of days. He had never seen any of them before and enjoyed it.

I haven't seen one of the JB films in a long time, but as a kid, he was my hero (Sean Connery). My Dad enjoyed the films so I watched them as early as I can recall. Being very young, it was a first opportunity to see more of the world.

Moore was good in his own way, just different then Connery. The first one or two Pierce Brosnan movies were good too. Tomorrow Never Dies was the last one I watched...haven't seen any JB movies since.

To me the VFX got better with technology, but there was just something to the more 'authentic' / time period ones--hard to put my finger on it.

Moore played Bond in a campy, humorous way. Quite the change from Connery. Although Connery did get some good one liners. I liked Moore as his movies were fun.
Brosnan's thing was the suave and debonair Bond. Always cool under pressure. But still with a bit of a sense of humor.
Craig may be the most realistic for a cold, calculating super spy. But I always found his Bond to be way too serious. He took all the fun out of it.

Speaking of actors who played James Bond let’s not forget David Niven in the 1967 “Casino Royale”. I enjoy “Casino Royale”, it’s like eight movies in one, mainly because it is parts of multiple scripts. How can you not enjoy a movie with an all star cast ranging from Orson Welles and Peter Sellers to George Raft and John Houston. Oh, and a score by Burt Bacharach featuring Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

One of the best Bond films. I too liked George Lazenby as Bond.

I agree. Said it before, IMHO, Lazenby fit the character Fleming described in the Bond books better than any of the others. Timothy Dalton was a distant second. Connery? Not even close.

I'm a diehard Connery-is-James-Bond, for the Bond movies fan. Didn't like Niven or Roger Moore. Niven lacked the menace, and Moore was, well, too much like Barbie's Ken doll.

Lazenby? I kinda remember him, but he didn't leave much of an impression

Daniel Craig, well, he's not Connery, but I think he's pretty good in the role. (Also really enjoyed his performance in Logan Lucky. Too funny!)
