Elmer Fudd's shotgun has been confiscated

Just read where new cartoons with Elmer chasing Bugs Bunny will be absent his trademark shotgun. Instead he will be using a scythe trying to hack him to death.

Guess he will have to be extremely "vewy, vewy" quiet while sneaking up on Bugs.

Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam no longer have guns in new 'Looney Tunes Cartoons'

Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam are sporting different looks in the "Looney Tunes Cartoons" that launched on the new streaming service HBO Max.

While their outfits remain the same, both will no longer be carrying guns.

The cartoons will still have plenty of sticks of Acme dynamite and cartoon violence, but Fudd will no longer carry his oversized hunting rifle and Sam won't have his pistols.

"We're not doing guns," executive producer and showrunner Peter Browngardt said in an interview with The New York Times.

"But we can do cartoony violence -- TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in."

In a short titled "Dynamite Dance," Fudd uses a scythe as he chases his nemesis Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny responds by using explosives to blow Fudd up multiple times.

No mention is made of whether or not that the guns being removed was a response to gun violence and school shootings in the US.

I'm sure the sheeple will wholeheartedly approve

When I was a child the Three Stooges poked each other in the eyes. Hit each other with hammers, shoveled hot coals down people’s pants.
Cartoon character had dynamite blow up in their face and in the next scene they were back to normal.
I knew it was all make believe, to make me laugh.
Sad that kids apparently lack the ability to tell fact from fiction now.

Alternately, I suppose they could have inserted some kind of safe gun handling/disclaimer spot before the cartoon instead.

I wonder how long it will be before the original cartoons are banned/blocked/forbidden?

So, a shotgun is an "oversized hunting rifle?" Revolvers are now "pistols." (OK, I can almost get the pistol part; most people out in the world seem to call them pistols.)

I think "pistol" was the term used generically back in the day, as in “Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?”

But I doubt the guy from Warner knows a gun from a gumball. Elmer could be carrying a .470 Nitro express double rifle.

There is a Saturday morning VINTAGE cartoon show on Me TV. The little I've seen keeps the use of guns to a minimum, but doesn't ban or edit them out.

Everybody knows that watching Bewitched, makes you a coven master and Dark Shadows makes you a vampire. Superman makes you bullet proof and able to fly.

People with their personal agenda, often make evil good & good evil. Also many are intolerant of another person's opinion if it disagrees. So now all we need to do is, come up with our own progun cartoons and get them in public circulation.
