In my former home (moved in January) we had a Blink video camera system. I did have many problems with it and had spent hours on the phone with customer service. Multiple cameras were replaced and video quality was ok but not great.

After moving into our new home setting up the Ring security and camera system that our new home came with was relatively easy. After living here for 5 months now I can confidently state that the Ring system is far superior to Blink. The cameras are better, the software is better, customer service is better (even though both companies are owned by Amazon), and the Ring system is easier to use imho.

I figured I’d post this now that I’ve got some experience with both systems and since they have become so popular these days. IMHO Ring is just a better system than Blink.

Never tried blink, but we have several ring cameras. I agree they are easy to set up and use and video quality is very good.

I have a SimpliSafe system, cameras indoors and out, various sensors, etc., monitored when I am away at my Oregon place. I find the cameras easy to access and of good quality.

At my Japan place I have a Japanese security system professionally monitored, but I don't have access to the cameras from my iPad or iPhone, so I installed a couple of Blink cameras, one outdoors and one indoors. All I plan to use them for is the occasional look-see when I am in the US.

The Blink cameras seem a lot flimsier than the SimpliSafe cameras, but for the price point seemed a pretty good deal to me. They were easy to install. So far, no issues with them.

I agree good video quality and good (understandable) customer service on the phone. I have the Ring battery doorbell (no wiring to hard wire - old house) the charge on battery lasts over a month shorter time in winter. Outside a ring spotlight camera with solar panel and two batteries. Just had to replace this camera after two years (one year warranty). Ring gave me a code for 35% off when I complained. Also have a ring spotlight camera hardwired watching a second property. I pay $30 a year to save video on all three devices. Just got an email that it is going up to $39 a year but unclear if we will get any added service for this additional $30 per year. I know Amazon will get added benefit.
