Default Roasting watermelons?

I prefer my watermelon raw. But, if I were going to cook it, I don't think this would be my method of choice.

We saw this today on I-75. Truck and trailer both loaded with watermelon. Engine and cab ablaze. The guys in the truck were OK. They had cell phones so we did not stop. There was nothing we could do to help. LEO were on the way. Hopefully the fire department also, but we didn't see them. I didn't want to be around if/when the flame reached the tank.

I tried to load the video my wife shot. These are frames from it. If someone can enlarge, please do.

Many years go the term” Watermelon roast” meant something Entirely different! I had never heard of it until a girl “ explained it” to me…. The term was used in dating, as in “ what are you two going to do tonight?” Going to a “watermelon roast”…

I remember many times sitting under my grand dads favorite yard shade tree eating water melon.

I'd have the juice up to my ears.

My dad used to sprinkle table salt on his watermelon and I don't recall ever seeing anyone who could spit a seed as far as my brother could.

Can't say as I have ever heard of roasting a watermelon, intentionally or by accident. Rocky Ford, Colorado is about 45 miles down the road (and my wife's home town), home of world-renowned melons, the usually preferred method of serving including a large tub of ice.

Caj is right. There are recipes for roasted watermelon. I never heard of it in terms of cooking or sparking. I was just trying to think of a thread title.

and I had an old friend that put Pepper on his cantaloupe.

I also saw a clip where a neck of a bottle of Vodka was placed into a round hole, on the top of a water melon , to had a little something to it's flavor.

Yup! Watermelon roast. Bunch of guys and gals going out to isolated state park.
Put the watermelon on a hot fire. When it explodes, everybody goes out and finds a piece.

I was reading an article on watermelons the other day. It was talking about how good watermelon seeds are for you. It talked about how chewing the white ones were easier, but they were all good for you. I then looked at some YouTube videos showing people eating watermelon. Many were eating seeded watermelon like it was seedless! I thought it was crazy. I've eaten a few over the years......not a fan. Also, if you do eat the seeds, you don't have to worry about a watermelon growing in your stomach!

Who here eats the seeds?
