An account deactivated or deleted?
I took issue with one of the mods that deleted my post along with several others on the Colorado update post this afternoon. I wrote said moderator asking him to delete my account, I just don’t care to be a part ofS&W forum anymore.

Didn’t say anything that was offensive, just got the mods panties in a bunch I guess, especially since I seemed to be “overreacting “ to the deletion he did. I even garnered a few likes on my post, not as many as the op but several.

Seems like the same bickering that goes on in all other forums exists here, just like every where else. Steel vs plastic, don’t care for”black guns” , or mag dumps (*** is that?). Plastic guns versus steel, etc. etc.

A shame as if gun owners would really come together, we could be a force to reckon with.

I think the only worse bickering I have seen was trapshooters. You talk about old maids that will urinate and whine about something? They take the cake.

I belonged to a state gun organization, had their own range complex, actually pretty nice it was. I saw them run soooo many new members even family members off with what were referred as range nazis by the members. Those r/os were just sick with power. Calling people out, embarrassing them instead of educating them, just doing everything possibly wrong when talking to an adult…. Is that what we have here? Mod nazis?

So tell me, what does one do, to get an account deleted?

Regards, Rick Gibbs

Seriously???

I deleted a post of yours in a 2A thread. I didn't issue a reminder or infraction.

Then you sent me this PM:

I see that you deleted my post on the Colorado post reference proposed law changes.

While I see where it could be a rules violation(s), I don’t agree with your decision on the matter.

Do me a favor please. Delete my account asap! All access, photos, comments etc. I just don’t wish to have or pay to be a member of the S&W Forum now or in the future. I see that you have charged me for membership for the year, Please discontinue debiting my accounts in the future for any costs or membership fees.

Please confirm the deletion of account via email at *******@gmail.com.

This was my response:

Rick,
It seems you're overreacting to a simple post delete.

We don't delete accounts. If you're unhappy here, sign off and don't return. You won't be automatically billed in the future.

I'm curious... Did you actually bother to read this???

READ this > RULES on HOW to use the 2A Forum

Then you replied with this:

Yes, I did read the rules reference 2a forum use. Along with the numerous other rules for all ofthe other categories. I have received several notices of infractions and or violation points in the short time I have been a member.

I get it, your venue your rules. And I understand that there are violations and then “violations” that need to be addressed.

Ifyou don’t delete accounts, then what do I need to do to get tossed off? I’m sure that there’s an infraction or two in allah those rules that warrant a revocation of privileges versus a mere awarding of points or suspension?

I’m sure I can fit it in somewhere with all the violations I have incurred. Maybe then you might temper your deletions when someone is commenting on past memories??.. I don’t see where anyone had objected to my post save you, and had even garnered alike or two!

What warrants an expulsion?

A while later, you sent this PM to the forum owner (handejector) and copied me:

Anyway that you can assist me with this account deletion? I requested that this mod help me with it, he stated that it cannot be done.

I no longer wish to be a part of, nor be associated in any way with the S&W Forum. I understand it’s your game, you get to enforce the rules as you see fit. As is the fact that I can choose to not be a part of this forum, or be associated with it in any way. Also, please don’t charge me for any membership fees in the future.

Regards, Rick ****

You're a present or former LEO?
You don't have enough sense to simply walk away??
You don't think I informed Lee about this???

Wow!
Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill!!

It seems you were able to figure out a way...
Godspeed finding another forum that tolerates your garbage. Your command is my wish.

I'm sure a mod can answer, but it is my understanding that there is no withdraw or cancel option on this, or many other forums. The result is banned. Best way is to stop participating.

Jeezy, overreact much ? I got a ding today ( not my first, probably not my last ) and had a post removed for trying to give folks a "heads up" on a gun. My bad, I followed some of the rules, but not all. The Big Gorilla gave me an explanation of why it was done, even though he didn't need to. My panties not in a wad, I will continue enjoying the forum and the people in it.
Good luck in your future endeavors.

Regards
Bruce

I've had some legit dings and deletions and plenty I thought were pretty dumb calls. Sometimes they annoy me a bit, then I take a look at arf or other large gun forums and appreciate the moderation here a lot more. Can't take it personally when a call doesn't go your way.

I learned many, many years ago...you don't argue with the ump. Plain and simple. You may not like the call, but that's tough. Keep your mouth shut. Either walk back to the dugout or head for the locker room. Have yourself a cup of Gatorade, a fistful of sunflower seeds, sit down and shut up. If you wanna quit the team...great. That's your decision. You don't have to say anything. Just go. Before long, nobody will even remember you were here. Good luck with other forums.:p

I wonder if he's ever heard of the Streisand effect - Wikipedia

"The Streisand effect is the way in which attempts to hide, remove, or censor information can lead to the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information. It is named after American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress the California Coastal Records Project's photograph of her cliff-top residence in Malibu, California, taken to document California coastal erosion, inadvertently drew greater attention to the photograph in 2003."
