Leaving Tuesday for London. Daughter is a junior at Washington University in Saint Louis, been studying abroad at King’s College London this semester. Haven’t seen her in person since we dropped her at the airport in STL January 3. The tour takes us to Amsterdam and Paris. Still trying to score a ticket for my beloved Arsenal, who play at home while we’re there. . .

Awesome! Please accept my envy for the hallowed grounds you will tread upon and the flagons you will hoist.

PS: these will come in handy for you...

"Dûment noté" and "Staat genoteerd".

Keep your head on a swivel. Riots in Paris(frequent). Amsterdam has become a real zoo, the locals are very unhappy. But I'm sure the food, beer, and wine are still wonderful on the Continent. Drink as much beer as you can in London. Get into the countryside if you can.

I didn’t mean to be short, but I guess I was. This trip has been in the planning stages for about six months or better, once Em confirmed her semester in London. Everything is scheduled booked and paid for with the exception of local train rides and an Arsenal ticket, which I hear may loosen up 24-48 hours before the match as ticket holders find they can’t attend. We have a stack of confirmations and receipts about an inch high (to be fair, I use 28 pound paper for my business, so that makes the stack higher.

We start in London, then a couple in both Amsterdam and Paris, then back to London. Amsterdam because one of Em’s
roommates at WashU is doing her semester abroad there, and Paris just because.

Looking forward to beans and toast and a proper pint. My daughter sent me a pic of a display of Bud 15 pack bottles on sale, and said Sainsbury’s must have heard I was coming . . .

Duly noted.

(But get a deep fried Mars Bar anyway, and if you survive it, please let us know what you thought of it. Hip, hip and tally ho, old bean!:D)

In my limited experience, the Eiffel Tower was about the only thing in Paris I found interesting (high school mind). The mechanics of it were amazing.

That's a really cool experience for your daughter and prestigious college. I studied over there as well for a semester (England).

Enjoy. :)

Awesome. Worked in London briefly and still keep in touch with friends from that time. I loved the museums (while the imperial war museum is cool, the British museum is just amazing), loved the pub/drinking culture, loved the dating scene, the ease of getting around, all of it. I'm not a big fan of living in cities, but if I ever get the chance I'd go back in a heartbeat.

We have tickets to the British Museum the afternoon we arrive . . .

Ok Muss. a London story for you. Mrs and I were walking in Hyde Park and she needed to use the restroom. The under ground public, pay ones were not going to work. I said, let's use the hotel across the street. She said she couldn't do that so I said, we'll have a cup of tea. We walked in and were immediately greeted. No ducking out no, so we said we'd like to have tea. It was high tea service and remarkable, as nice as the one we had Christmas day at the Ritz. I included the link so you could look it up. Rooms are only a little over $1000 per night.
