Burger King Ketchup
We had lunch at BK today, mainly because my grandson wanted to go there. My wife and I haven’t been to one in at least two or three years. I demand thick ketchup for my fries. Today the BK ketchup was more like tomato juice. Has anyone else had that experience? I don’t believe we will be returning because of that watered down ketchup.

A national chain, such as Burger King or McDonald’s, no doubt, takes the cheapest bid to provide ketchup in the package with their logo on it. they deal in such a large quantities that even a couple of cents per pack adds up, so it is all profit motivated to give you the cheapest condiments they can get away with

Ketchup appears to be the new height of American dining experiences.

I’ve never had the watery ketchup you describe at Burger King. As a matter of fact, I’ve never noticed a difference between ketchup served at Burger King compared to other fast burger joints like Macdonald’s.
I suspect you got a bad batch. Did you ask for some different ketchup? Asking for some packets from the bottom of the box (or another box) might have solved the problem.
I’d want to try Burger King a couple more times before concluding their ketchup is systematically inferior stuff.

Crossing an entire fast food chain off the list over packaged ketchup viscosity is a new one on me.

I only buy Heinz. Seems popular.
"Heinz which has been around since 1869 and recently introduced a divisive , Heinz, for example, meets the USDAs standards for Grade A ketchup and is the ketchup supplier for major chains like Burger King, Sonic, Applebees, Arbys and Chick-fil-A, none of which brand their in-store condiment packets as fancy."

Good burgers and fries. Eat there 3-4 times a month. I do not contaminate good fries with ketchup; however, to each his own.

Just shows what I know. The way BK's are shutting down around Columbus, I didn't think anyone went there any more. There is one about a thousand yards from my front door. There are never more than the two employee's cars in the lot!
So the question is, Does BK catsup have a shelf life or a half life?

Being from this area (SW PA) all my life, if I do pollute my food with ketchup, catsup, tomato puke, whatever, it’s gonna be Heinz.
Regarding BK, there’s one just across the river from me that is always packed. In fact, where it’s located, the drive-thru lane full of people too lazy to walk in to get their food actually blocks Route 8 sometimes. I don’t get it. But, “ketchup viscosity” was never used in the ads for “The slowest ketchup in town.” Get the copyright fast!

The ketchup in this BK was the type you squirt into a little paper cup, not in a packet. Best ketchup is at Whataburger. They have their own brand sold in supermarkets also. That sets them apart from the other fast food chains. They have a large number of branded products sold in supermarkets including condiments, salsa, salad dressings, even ground pork sausage. See: 15 Whataburger products, sauces are now in stores in more than 3,500 stores across the U.S.

Companies may buy ketchup from big vendors…but each blend may be proprietary to their restaurant chain. Just because Heinz may supply it doesn’t mean it’s not thinner, thicker or seasoned the same. Heinz probably doesn’t use their own blend for anyone else.
McDonalds dumped Heinz as their ketchup vendor some time ago…no idea who supplies them now.

I doubt BK sets the specifications for its ketchup ordered in mass quantities from Heinz. Maybe your packet sat in an 18-wheeler in the AZ sun too long or you didn't mash the packet enough to mix it up.

B K is having it's problems here too. I went to one in Billings somewhat recently. They had paper towels issued with a Whopper meal() was not enough. they had no condiments Catsup or mayo no salt or pepper. 2 employees 1 manager...and of course no real service. I used to like BK over McDs any day of the week. Now I don't go to either. Wendy's out in this area is almost always busy. And they have fair chili. I think BKs has some trouble from the top down and finding people to work anywhere is hard to-do

I don't like ketchup at all...I use mayonnaise with my fries...It's a holdover from my nights of coming back to base from the gasthaus and stopping at the bratwurst stand outside the main gate for a bratwurst on brochen before reaching the barracks... Und frites mit mayo, bitte!... ...Ben

I don't do much in the way of fast food. There's a locally owned burger joint about ten miles north of here called Dairy Maid, and those burgers are what I compare all others to. Most, and I mean most, don't measure up.
Occasionally, I also eat at Five Guys and In-n-Out.
Whenever I eat at Mcd's or BK, I leave with the feeling, "I could have done better".
Ketchup has never been a deciding factor.

The worst FF chain winner, at least locally, is Jack in the Box. Many have closed, the few remaining open are ghastly places. That could be the fault of the franchisee, but if so, why wouldn’t the company step in do something about it? At one time, now years ago, JITB was our favorite FF place, but not now. I remember about ten years ago, JITB put in self-service kiosks to place orders. No one could figure out how to use them, so they were taken out. Wendy’s has also slid in many local locations. Two that were closest to us have been closed for several years.
Back to the current subject. We were the only customers in the BK today. Strange for a restaurant during Sunday lunch, especially one located in a high traffic area as this one is. Prices have also gone much higher.

Used to go to bk on occasion of being in city that had one. Stopped when couldn't figure out the self serve pop machine. Instead found out about Culvers double butter burgers, with the best fast food fries and friendly people. Put your cup under the clearly identified spout and press. So simple even i can do it.

Was it in packets, or out of a pump dispenser?
The former would be surprising, the latter, not so much...

I used to LOVE Whoppers.....
...but I haven't had a good one in years. I notice a vast difference between regions and in ours there aren't very many burger places that have food worth eating. Last time we left town we stopped to get a burger for the road and I paid for it the rest of the day.
PS: A long time ago I saw some whining, crying, sniveling vegan on TV begging people not to eat fast food ketchup because it had 'meat juice' in it.

We avoid fast food joints at all costs. Look for road side stands. They usually are owned by Mom & Pops. They work hard to provide you with a great meal. Most have ketchup and mustard in a bottle. I avoid Heinz at all cost. Owned by John Kerry's second millionaire wife.

As I said earlier it was pump your own into a little paper cup at BK. We go mainly to Whataburger, their ketchup (and other condiments) comes in larger plastic cups (size depends on the condiment) with a peel-off lid, much better to dip fries in. I strongly dislike the little tear-open packets of ketchup the other FF places use.

I woulda given you a like on that but didn't want to confuse anyone about what the like was for....My sister is a Vegan...but will goe to Mickeys for fries...otherwise she's a nut. Wore a mask outdoors till a month ago...after about 4 or 5 covid shots...food delivery from stores didn't go anywhere during Covid shutdown. Ended up with it twice...last time 2 months ago. I finally convinced her the masks didn't help much...DUH! Sorry for the drift. But she is a Ditz

I don't care for ketchup on burgers, but do like a slice of fresh tomato, along with onions and lettuce. And mustard.
Growing up, I did not encounter ketchup until I was 14 when I ordered a hamburger at poolside snack bar and it came with fries accompanied by ketchup. I thought it was great on the fries. I still have it on fries, although I also like malt vinegar.

I have found that the only real use for ketchup packets is to carefully put them under the toilet seat and wait for them to explode when the next person sits down.

I never cared for ketchup with fries except for big fat steak fries.
Salt and grease is good for me.
Burger without fries is a sacrilege.

Watery ketchup? Even worse in my book is when I forget to shake the squeeze-bottle in a restaurant. One squirt and I get plasma. Yellow, vile liquid and wets down my french fries! If I shake the bottle it recombines. For some reason it doesn't happen at home. The trouble is probably low-bidder restaurant ketchup.

We keep this in the fridge. Ruthie has to have it with her fries. When we do Wendy's she gets a Frosty and dips her fries in it.
Bless her heart.

I dont go to BK because I can't get a "Hot" burger from them, even if I go inside and order !!
My "New" burger place is In & Out for a at least a warm fresh burger
with ok fries and shakes.
I love my Trager or kingsford's in a bbq !!
