My wife and her three best friends went out to lunch today, to a new place.

The food was great and even all the people there, joined in, singing happy birthday, to one of her gang, from workers to just people that were there, enjoying the food.

The girls gave it a 5 star rating for the food, service and "Feels like home" surroundings.

My wife had a bowl of "Starter" clams that she could not finish with the main course on the way and had them save it to take home.

I had it tonight and it was super good but with clams that I have never had before.
Does any one know what type of clams these are and where they come from?
I dig that crazy design on the shell.

She told me that we have to go there, so I can see what I am missing. :D

Thank you for any help.

I've told my wife if she ever takes me to a restaurant for my birthday and has the service crew do that Happy Birthday thing, she'll be my Ex by morning.

I was taken (drug unwillingly) to a regional restaurant know for atmosphere and attitude by the wife. (now ex).

I made it very plain that I did not want to go to that restaurant.

Arrived near 7:00 - BUT NO RESERVATIONS - Seating at 9:30 MAYBE.

Take me home.

She refused and drug me to another nearby restaurant.

I would rather have had a pizza buffet.

In the 15 months that we have lived here we have figured out which eateries are on our "please sir, can I have some more?" list and those that get relegated to the "you had your chance" list.

The good ones far outweigh the bad.

Must be hard, Rusty, to get on your thumbs-down list for eateries. After seeing your photos of home cooking on the recent food thread, you seem to enjoy everything!

No opinion. I won't eat filter feeders.

Funny, Years ago while on the Pier in Seattle we went into a seafood bar. I love raw oysters, they were selling a dozen of your choice for an amount of money or you could get a sampler from all the surrounding areas for same price. I ordered the sampler and got a dozen oysters from all over the Puget Sound. That way I could order another dozen of my choice. It was crazy the difference in the taste of one oyster to the next. I finally settled on Watley Bay and told the waiter that was my choice. He said "Funny you would pick Watley Bay." I asked him why that was funny, his answer was "Because Watley Bay is the furthest away or closest to the sea." I've known for years that most things eaten from the sea should only taste and smell of the sea, anything fishy and its OUT, especially clams and oysters.
