Well, sorta solo. What I like about this clip, is that it shows Jagger can do his thing, and very well, on a small stage, with a small audience, and with minimal (three people?) back up. Most of us think of Jagger and the Stones playing stadiums with tens of thousands, which they normally do, but here he is on a small stage:

I was thinking about Jagger, these past past few days, as we had that John Lennon, murdered 40+ years ago, thread. And thinking about how the Beatles were like a comet, blowing up the rock/pop world and then gone, all within, what? Ten years? And how the Stones just kept on truckin'. Charley Watts passing a year or so ago, but the rest of 'em still pluggin' away.

Jagger must be 80 or close to it.

Impressive.

I count 9 people on stage backing him which includes a horn section.

Also this was 11 years ago.
So, Jagger would have been about 70 YO, and you are a definitely better counter of back up personnel than me. Well done!

But, how did you like the performance?

You would agree, I think, that the performance is less of an extravaganza than a typical Stones show? As a musician, how'd you like the performance?

Here's a more typical performance, huge stage, audience, and back up: The Rolling Stones - Miss You Live On Copacabana Beach - YouTube

Surprisingly, to me, given it's Jagger/the Stones, I like the small stage performance better.

The assembled session players and vocalists behind him seemed well rehearsed. Mick's performance appeared a wee bit forced and animated perhaps due to the VIP audience before him.

He showed little evidence of having pitch problems. I am 70 and my pipes are shot. Mick did fine.

That performance was at the White House. You can see the Obamas in the front row. If I remember correctly it was part of a celebration of Blues music program. There is a funny clip of Obama introducing the act, "Here is something I never thought I would say, Ladies and Gentlemen, Mick Jagger".

There comes a time when we all just have to hang it up……his time was some time ago…..mine is just around the corner as it pertains to eyesight and shooting.
