As singers, they each do well in their own way, but I think Taylor Swift knows the difference and wanted her fans to know about this very special folk singer.
-As a person, Swift has an unusual humility especially for someone in her position.

-As a Christian, I do not care for what she has to say as a poet or philosopher. Her message is typical worldly vanity, feminist hypergamy. She has been through the actors and musicians, and now she will run through the sports stars. I hope I am wrong. We'll see.

Kelly Clarkson . Fat, ugly, and buck toothed.

I don't care for her music. I wouldn't know one of her songs if you hit me with it. But she is a talented, lovely young lady who has made it big. Good for her.
From what I see, unlike many of the so called "super stars", she does have a real appreciation and love for her fans. That I like.

I'm kinda with you here. I always thought she was "awkward" looking. I do appreciate the talent and smarts, though.

My hippie girlfriend dragged me to a Peter, Paul and Mary concert in the 60's. 1st and last concert I have or ever will attend. Fans have died in Rio's heat waiting to see her. Taylor Swift must be in league the DEVIL.

The current “Eras Tour” includes songs from ALL of her 10+ albums including the country days.
Having a teenage girl about 10-12 years ago I took her and a friend to see her in Grand Rapids. This was back in the “country days” and to be honest, I absolutely loved it!
That same daughter went to see her in Detroit a few months ago and said it was spectacular. She played 44 songs over a span of 3.5 hours, all present left exhausted.
I’m not a fan of the current “pop” stuff but respect the heck out of her!

Music like all art is completely subjective. some love what others hate and vice/versa.
as for me, my music-listening days are pretty much over. I am a podcast listener. There is just too much information I want to waste time listening to someone sing.

She tells stories that a lot of folks identify with. She doesn't have great range or vocal/guitar chops. She is bubbly, playful and relatable on stage. She plays to the crowd and leaves everything she has on that stage.
Her choreography rehearsal schedule with her dancers is brutal.
Like Donna Summers she works hard for the money.

I have never understood people following around a singer, celebrity or sport team and wasting large amounts of money just to see or hear them. Just my opinion, but these people are like sheep. Now don't get me wrong, I like Bonnie Raitt and her music. I have purchased one or two of her CDs (as long as there are several songs on each CD I like). But to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to hear her, that would be crazy. I don't get it???

Saw a video news bit the other day about how Attorney General Merrick Garland is a head over heels Taylor Swift fan, a Swiftie. Go figure. At least Merrick is not handing out accolades to the rap artist of the moment, violent anarchistic hate mongers.

I've never heard her "music" but if it's anything like the other young female screamers, it probably sounds like a barrow being castrated. Regardless, it is better than rap.

I don't recall ever hearing one of her songs . . .
So, whatever, I guess.
Apparently I have heard her music. The one Rusty posted in another thread plays regularly on our music at work. I just didn't know who the singer was. As songs go,it's unobjectionable but not something I'd seek out.

I've seen a few of her pictures posted on the internet. Sorry, but every time I see her, I'm reminded of Olive Oil. Tall, skinny and not a curve in sight.
I go out of my way to NOT listen to her music, particularly after I read that many of her songs are motivated by former boyfriends that she dumped.
I also don't like Black Widow Spiders.

I'm an old guy...my most liked music comes from 50s-60s real rock and roll. Just my take here...Her music ain't much...But a lot of music isn't much anymore...But she's pretty . Quite a while ago they invented music videos...A lot of glitz and glitter made people get starry eyes...before they didn't really try to impress you with pretty..I mean think Janis Joplin ...those days are over...we don't buy/listen to great music we listen and look at visuals put together in a studio music. Always was studio music...but without the glitz and pretty pictures...more like a movie than great music. Been to a handful of concerts...real music...real people...Beach Boys...Eagles and a number of real country musicians at local shows coming into the audience. . Like Football and other sports etc. This music video stuff is more of A distraction from our day to day life. a show...somewhat like what the Romans used to distract the citizens in the coliseum. And for some of the same reasons...Billion and a half bucks??? wow...real inflation..LOL. She can buy a lot with that no matter how good she is!

I still think Suzi Quatro, after she left her sisters (The Pleasure Seekers) for her solo career, was one of the best solo females of my lifetime. She was very talented and prettier than most; just never hit any popularity here in the States. She's over in England somewhere now. Man, was she pretty and had a heck of a voice for this teenager!

Suzi Quatro was a fairly big deal in the UK in the early 70s. Her leather outfits launched more than a few pubescent fantasies. I probably have a 45 of one of her hits somewhere. Devil Gate Drive, IIRC.

Music can be magical. It's great to hear a old song and the memories flood your mind with what or who you were doing when you first heard it. To me a life without music would be like a life with no color.
I have a big Bluetooth JBL speaker, that's always playing music when I'm working in the garage, or chilling on my patio.
Just a month or so ago I upgraded the stereo in my Tacoma for better sounding tunes. They sound great too!

I have sole and total control over the content of my daily playlist which is all over the map.
There are several pieces by her on it. Her band is tighter than Dick's hat band.

Last time I commented on a Taylor Swift thread, I got dinged (had it coming, no complaints) so I will just say that I do not understand the appeal either.

She's got a couple of songs that are kinda catchy, and I admire her work ethic and the way she takes care of her crew all the way down to truck drivers.
At least Taylor hasn't gone off the deep end like her peer, Miley Cyrus.

HEY RUSTYT, the over/under lasted to 54 posts, and this thread had nothing to do with the Beatles!! I can’t wait for Dec. 8th! It’ll be a Daily Double! One assassination and one birthday of two Rock history icons.

He was previously known as Richard Wagstaff Clark.
Then Dick Clark.
Stopped wearing hats for TV shows.
Too tight so it made his face red.
Taylor Swift is one of his nine his daughters.
Swift out gunned Jessie Harrison yesterday.
She's now called.... 220 Swift.
Fast is Hot.
True story.

Richard Cromwell "Lord Protector" of England.
The hatband was in reference to the crown.

The real music is in the underground.
As we think of the 60's and 70's, the soundtrack we think of is a far cry from what Billboard tried to sell.
Few know Lovers Concerto, but Fortunate Son ... yeah baby, that's the era.

Don't feel bad, I got dinged and a ban for saying something negative about John Wayne a few years ago!

Now, THAT was a voice. She could sing any genre and make it sound wonderful. So sad that she's no longer able to sing.

Allow me to suggest an alternative from Germany, for those who recognize Miss Swift's vocal limitations(not critiquing the woman herself):
That's just one of her many songs -click on a number of them. She has some with the extracurricular stage gymnastics that Swift employs, but a lot of others in different settings, often outdoors. She uses a German folk/pop genre called schlager.
If you don't know German, look up the lyrics on Google. I'd recommend listening to her earlier ones(of which the one noted above is an example), written by a fellow named Jean Frankfurter -a master of melody. They should appear closely together in YouTube's recommendations(a few are in the listings which appear at the end of the video).
This lady has a wonderful voice. Take it from a former voice major. The Germans are fortunate to have her around.
Thank me later,
Andy

That is eerily similar to Numa Numa.

Just for a different perspective I thought I would share this about Taylor Swift:
Taylor Swift showed up to surprise a 96-year-old WWII veteran, Mr. Porter, as he was celebrating Christmas with his family. The superstar walked through the door and once the screaming died downplayed “Shake It Off” for the veteran, who also happens to be a massive Taylor Swift fan. The appearance had a special meaning for the pop star who showed up with her parents, as she mentioned to Mr. Porter that her own grandfather is also a Second World War veteran. A video of her impromptu appearance was uploaded to YouTube as fans talk about her "integrity and character" as she gave this war veteran and his family a Christmas day to remember forever.
Check out this heartwarming video of the event.

Hmm, leave it to Faulkner to see the positive side of a topic.

I can’t believe someone started a thread simply to bash Taylor Swift.
Not a fan of hers but I respect her.
Grumpy old farts need to find a hobby. And I don’t suggest modern music.
There are so many other things that are wrong in this country and our young people. Pick on them instead. Although I doubt tomorrow’s leaders really care about what we think.
