Only $19.00 a month - just 63 cents a day

St. Judes is the only one I consider. I give them a small donation each year in exchange for a hot date with Marlo.

I just want the plush elephant.

I went to Auburn. I like Tigers, not elephants. :D

Did you hear that they are asking if the VA should help pay for the
people crossing the Texas boarder?

Donations are fine if they make scense.

Matthew E. Bershadker the ASPCA (nonprofit) CEO earns a $750,000 base salary annually. He is entitled to $276,000 in bonuses and benefits of $47,859.

2020 tax returns state that the ASPCA has $20M in off shore accounts.

Support your local rescue shelter directly.

Wow!

A few years ago, I donated to a couple of unsuccessful political candidates, and a coupla charities that seemed deserving. My email addy got passed around, and I became absolutely inundated with solicitations.

A month or two ago, I figured out how to easily block emails and texts. It has made cleaning out the in box in the morning a lot simpler.

I have good confidence in The Salvation Army and donate every month. I rarely see a solicitation from them on TV and they have never asked me for an email or phone number. I hope my confidence in them is well founded and that what little I can give helps people who truly need it. Generally I agree that when it comes to charitable donations, the closer to home, the better. The farther the money travels, the more likely it is to be “diminished.”

There was that program "Extreme Makeover" showcasing families whose homes would be remodeled to help them cope with various problems. There was a least one case where a couple lost their home due to a home equity loan default.

We have a pound hound rescued from a shelter in GA. My son one from a TN shelter and they just fostered one from TN that found a forever home over the holidays. These local, largely volunteer organizations that rescue dogs from mostly southern and some kill shelters are a great place to help and get tremendous bang for your buck. Sometimes even better than a monetary donation is to volunteer your time and expertise where it's needed most.

Yep, getting your hands dirty can be very rewarding and you get to see the nitty gritty.

When are the hands out organizations going to stop asking for donations now that the Holiday season is over?
ASPCA
Safe place to sleep ( the kids look old enough to get jobs)

Shriner's Hospital

St. Jude's
No kid goes hungry
Holocaust Jews
And the list goes on and on.

Always know where your money is going:
CEO Matt Bershadker makes nearly $1 million a year–$881,785 in base salary and $108,740 in benefits.
That's $424 per hour.

Easiest way to get rich?
Start a non-profit, you're allowed to pay the CEO (you) and officers any salary you seem fit out of the donations, if you can live with yourself.

If anyone wants to be a friend of animals, contributions of money, food, toys, bedding, etc. to local animal shelters would be a better way to do it than sending money to ASPCA.
Have never checked it out, but I understand that most donations made to the Salvation Army get to those who need it, not into some administrator's pocket.

We have made in person donations to good animal shelters for years. Bring in the food or litter right to their location.

A couple times the wife got a pet shop to give her a super good cost when she was buying a bunch of food to bring to a very overcrowded shelter. That allowed her to buy even more food.

The shelter had taken over a large bunch of animals that were found to be abandoned after a raid on the property!

The successful con man always keeps in mind that stealing a million from one person is far more dangerous than weaseling a buck from a million people.

Take a large chunk at once and you have a very angry victim and enforcement agencies taking your crime very seriously. If you are caught it is far more likely that you will be given the full treatment of the law.

Take a tiny amount from each person, very few will take much notice, maybe a few will be a bit annoyed, and you can be assured that no enforcement agency will give much priority to running you down.

"Non-profit" is only a status allowed for tax purposes; it does not mean that there is no one making money, it does not mean the motives are pure, it does not mean that no political agenda is involved.
