Just $19 a month.

I donate to our local Food Bank.
$100 every time. They seem to appreciate it, have gotten handwritten Thank You Notes.
Only complaint is seem to to share-sell their donor list.
Or so it seems. Recently I have received requests from several organizations with which I never had any contact and some I have barely heard of.

I seem to recall reading that donations of less than $20 ($19 for example) don't require certain types of reporting to IRS (or whoever charities report to). I wouldn't swear that's accurate, though.

I phoned one of these $19 a month outfits and talked to one of their "operators"...I stated I wanted to make a "one-time" donation of $100 and was told NO we ONLY want $19 a month...NO one time donations...I will refrain from telling you what I told them to do...NO donations from me...EVER...

I have read similar stories elsewhere. They want you to become hooked for the long term. Some, maybe most, of the so-called charities will hire professional fund raisers to handle the donation solicitations, for which they take a hefty share of the proceeds.

I wish the spam requests were just $19.99. I'm getting $299.99 requests for McAfee AV, and an equal amount for Microsoft 365. I look at the headers. They are not legit. I get 2-3 a day from other sources that have no headers. I send them to spam, but still can't block them.
