A guy left a near by hospital with no shirt and hospital pants in what I assume was his SUV. Saw a dead deer along the road, stopped and using the driver's seat belt strapped it to the side of the SUV, and again I assume headed home. Cops saw him and attempted to stop him. He fled and they eventually stopped him in Jackson County with stop sticks.
God bless West Virginia.

Hey, he just didn't want the deer to go to waste.
Waste Not - Want Not.
He didn't stop for the police just because he didn't want to share his dinner.

The pursuit began in Mason County and ended in Jackson County. The guy's first name is Buck. Just Google "pursuit in WV today" for a picture of this "character".

How far is that? I have no frame of reference as I live in Nevada where at least one county is bigger than some East coast states.

Found an article with a picture. "Character" may not cover it.

I looked at the article and pic. The deer was dragging down the road because the driver tried to strap it to his car with a seat belt, which was never going to work. Whether it was unsecured load or the fact that he could not be using the seatbelt correctly, it seems like ample basis for the attempt to stop him.

How far? SWAG, I would say 20 miles +/-. Takes a little time to advise other people of pursuit, arrangements to deploy stop sticks, etc. On a side note, about 35 years ago WV law enforcement was using gun fire to stop pursuits. One of our guys pursued somebody one night along the river until the pursuee came to a bridge and decided he would cross into WV to avoid capture. Our officer "terminated" pursuit when he saw the muzzle flashes as they reached the WV side.

What initiated the stop? Seat belt violation? Unsecured load? A simple case of "What the...?" All of the above?
My thought is "what the (bleep)??? Once it clearly turned into a pursuit, "this is (bleeping) hilarious"!!!!!

Well, all things considered, that's a pretty creative crime spree for a guy who looks like a Neanderthal. (Will make for some great cop stories, too.)

I thought such things only happened in Ohio.

A few years ago I hit a deer on I-70 in Ohio and totalled my rental car. I was on the berm waiting on help, and a pickup truck pulled over. Thinking it was a first responder, I waved to show I was ok. Driver got out and threw the dead deer into his truck bed and then drove off...

We would occasionally give the location of recently deceased deer to people in need. In a small town in which I worked, there was a guy with some health problems who was told by his doctor to eat as much game meat as possible instead of processed beef and pork (dunno why). A couple times I took kids with a pickup to get the deer. Charities also would collect new road kill.
