John Kopec has passed away

While the name may not be familiar to many...if you have any familiarity with the Colt Single-Action Army revolver you've likely heard the name John Kopec. John was the preeminent authority on the SAA...particularly the US Army issued revolvers. He was a lifelong researcher into them and an accomplished author on the subject. He lived a full 97 years.

John authenticated many, many of these revolvers and issued letters with his seal and signature...bronze, silver and gold...which added great value to them.

He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. John...Rest in Peace.

John Kopec has passed away

I was waiting for someone else to post this and no one had.

A real gentleman, I will miss him immensely.

Although not so much into Smith & Wesson revolvers, he was a giant in the gun collecting field, especially with regards to Colt Single Action Army Cavalry & Artillery Model revolvers.

Rest in Peace, John.

A like is inappropriate, so I will simply say thank you for making the notification.

Throughout my career I was frequently reminded "No one is irreplaceable". Mr. Kopec was the exception who proved the rule.

Rest in peace, sir. Your body of work will endure.

Well said.
A gentleman and a scholar. I spoke to him about his book a few times in the 80s. I was amazed he took so much time to talk to a novice like me. Definitely a nice guy.
