Anyone else attend a gun auction lately? I think I go more for the entertainment value anymore. Frienzied bidding to buy used guns , some VERY used , for well over retail?

Recently at a nearby auction , a Raven .25 went for $175 , a Jennings .22 went for $195 , a S&W 22S went over $300 , a few H&R top-break .22 9-shooters went for well over $200.

Ammo is out of hand too. (2) 800 cases of Indian .308 ball ammo for $500 each!?

Then ya gotta add 10% buyer's fee (13% credit card) and 6% sales tax.

I joked with a gunshop owner that he should just hold an auction at the end of the month and all the old guns that have been sitting gathering dust would sell for a lot more than they were tagged for.

I told one of the auction personal that they should sell beer in their little cafe. If these people bid that much sober , imagine what they'd pay after a few beers!

You all should say THANK YOU to the frenzied buying of guns at auction. This indicates the strength of the gun market in general. It simply means that of allmost all of the "collectable" classes, that guns have not suffered in this downturn of the economy. Again this ultimately means that the money you have invested is not only still there, but has been a sound investment class.
