ive heard this statment several times and im wondering what are some good websites to check out, to make sure that im up to date on political issues. people come out with these claims and whatnot about what is goin on in this country right now and how people in other countries know more about what is goin on here than americans, well where do i look to keep an eye on big brother (or more like sexually assaulting uncle)? i like to know what im talkin about as opposed to "well i heard from joe blow that..." can anyone point me in the right direction? i used to have a few but cant for the life of me remember the address'. thanks in advance.

BBC, Jerusalem Post, WSJ are the ones that I go to most often. Also, sites such as digg.com and stumbleupon are great if you have time to kill.

Another vote for BBC.

In my internet tabs, I have a news tab which has BBC, CNN, and FOX. I figure CNN and FOX counter each other and if I read both lies, I'll be able to figure out the truth.

Did anyone notice that the only uniquely American news outlets were the WSJ, Drudge and Sip's Wife?

BBC and CNN's website.

I can't stand television news. In the past few years it has gotten too flashy and fast-paced; I used to like watching CNN Headline News, but they changed it to "HLN" and it looks like some celebrity gossip show from E! network.

For overseas news, the Christian Science monitor used to be a good source. I don't know if they are still published or not.

Television seems mostly hollyierd oriented.

Seems hard to find unbiased news in the USA right now.

It isn't just the slanted coverage of ALL US TV "news" stations, it is also the visual and audio presentation. I feel like I am always being sold something. Stuff in this world is weird enough, we don't need the latest special effects to enhance what is happening. Just when I get into a story, they jump to the next or to a Taco Bell food-like product comes up in it's unnaturally colored glory.

I remember the Christian Science Monitor being a good source, but they have really fallen off the map in the last 5-10 years (in both quality and general readership).

If I consume info by means other than the internet, I listen to BBC Radio. Those BBC reporters really get after people in interviews. I was listening to one a few months back, the reporter almost made the leader of the Tamil Tigers cry.

Best news source

When I turn on the computer first I check e-mails, then go to Drudge Report for news and then to the S&W Forum. I can tell you what to stay away from for news, first the Networks, then keep away from MSNBC, they are in Obamas pocket, most of them never ask a hard question of the president. Jeff

thank you all, i scanned a couple real quick, just what i was lookin for, but please feel free to add more...

For financial news and links, Kitco.com is a good jumping off point.

I just don't get caught up in the gold fever.
