    MY FAVORITE .22 RIFLES

My favorite is probably my Remington 541-S. I have "better" ones, but I like it best of all.

    S&W 586

I noticed a 6" (98%+) at one of the local gun shops. They are asking a bit over $600. I'd love to own one and it is on my list. I could probably buy it for $550 cash if I tried, but yesterday was not the day. I was eyeing up a 4" M63 a lot closer. I would rather have a 586/686 that a M-19...

Why do so many people look askance at a +$500 22LR revolver?

I'm a 22 revolver addict. I need help. I just saw a nice 4" M63 and I'm dying to get the thing, but now is just not the right time. If it doesn't sell. maybe in a month or so I will be able to swing it. You don't know how this just digs at me! I want it! I have a lot of 22 revolvers and a...

    Nickel Guns...What's Your Opinion?

I have a few nickel plated revolvers including a 4" M57, and some Colts. There is no question that I have always preferred a high polish blued finish over nickel. Now that is a brace of Smiths above. Nice layout.

Would you drill and tap a 29-3 for scope?

I had the same decision with a 8 3/8" Model 57. Have had the gun a long time and just couldn't bring myself to having it drilled and tapped for a scope. It is my best shooting M57. In my case, I bought a Ruger Super Redhawk (SRH) in 480 Ruger as my deer gun. Have not hunted the woods with a...

    price check 63-4

Bought a new 5" in January for $500+tax at a LGS (asking price). $700 seems high to me. I could see $600. The 3" will likely be my next gun that I buy new.

S&W M17-6 Want to know a few things?

I bought a 4" 17-6 in mid-February. They had a as-new 6" 17-6 there as well for an asking price of $700. I felt that was a bit strong, but after reading some of the recent threads, maybe that is pretty close to the going rate. I paid less for my as-new blue 17-6 and I'm learning that I got a...

    1980 Model-57 New In Box....A photo essay!

Very nice job on the photos and so forth. It is a great gun.

    S&W Model 48

That is definitely one I would buy if given the opportunity at a fair price. It would be nice to have the optional 22LR cylinder as well which was included with some Model 48's. Not sure when that started.

    Stainless .22 cal Revolver Recs

I think the folks have previously covered the choices. I personally like the 4" M617 and the 3" or 5" M63's. I suspect I will eventually buy a 3" M63. But the 5" would be a very good choice for toting around the farm or woods in a holster. The larger framed 617 will probably have a better...

Why do so many people look askance at a +$500 22LR revolver?

I started out believing that if it shot, why would I want to spend the money for a Colt or Smith 22 revolver? It took a couple years to get a bit educated. After some experience and education, I bought a new Colt Diamondback in 22. I pretty much love the Colt Diamondback's in 22 and have...

    317 kit gun

I just recently purchased a new 5" Model 63. I have not shot it much yet, but as much as I like the 317, when it came to buying a new J-frame revolver, I chose the Model 63 since it is a steel gun and I expect more durable. I seriously want a 3" Model 63 now for more descrete woods carry. I...

    S&W 17 or 18?

I have both as well. I honestly prefer the Model 18 with the 4" barrel. I just picked up a Model 17 with a 4" barrel to go with my 6" Model 17. I looked at a 6" Model 17 priced fairly the same day; I was seriously tempted, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money.

    standard catalog of S&W

I find the pricing in the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson interesting. The information is far more important. I don't rely heavily on the values but look at them in only general terms. I use the Blue Book more for pricing or valuing things but only as a guide. Experience and knowledge of...
