I carry a P30L 9mm for Off duty armed security gig and use it w/ pretty good success in IDPA. With the back and side panels I think it the most comfortable handgun I have shot/held. That being said I have shot M&P's as well. I like them as well. They really fit in the hand too. Try one out...

I use 147gr. for IDPA. I also use it for my off duty guns. Light recoil if that is your thing. Nice for quick follow up shots during matches. Factory stuff seems to make power in IDPA. I reload a lot of them as well.
