    brownells 4506 recoil springs

8 1/8" sounds about right. It will be hard to compress at first. Watch out for it flying out when trying to compress it.

Advantages of 40 vs. 45 ACP?

Why do I carry a 45? Because they don't make a 46 LOL. I own both and must say I find it harder in follow up shots with the 40 then the 45. I have no worries carrying either round. I also carry a 9 and still carry a 38 revolver. Funny thing is be it 38, 9, 40 or 45 put it in the right...

Novak Barrel for 3rd Gen guns

I was looking up Novak sights when I came across the custom section of the website. They offer to fit a match grade barrel to the 3rd gen autos. Wondering if anyone on here has had the work done? Any feed back would be nice. I have an older 4506 that I may consider shipping to Novak for a...

3rd Gen parts - I'm afraid we're on our own Gents

When I bought my 4506 it had a spring that must of came from a pen. So I called S&W and they sent me a new one on the package it had 201610000 markings. It was around 8 1/4 inches and a pain to install. It worked great and felt like it belonged to the gun. I then ordered the service pak from...

3rd Gen parts - I'm afraid we're on our own Gents

Wolff makes springs for the 3rd gen guns. The only problem I ran into was the recoil spring for the 4506 is not the 8 1/4 inch long spring that came stock in the pistol, part number 201610000. It is only about 6 1/2 inches long and feels weaker then the older spring I have in the gun. I have...

    4506 recoil spring

Thank you very much sir. Now it makes sense. Since I have you here I got a second question. Does the length of the spring make a difference? I bought the wolff 14 for the 4506 but its much shorter then the original. When raked it feels weaker the the original and I can feel tue slide...

    4506 recoil spring

14 lbs does not make sense. Spring #201610000 is standard in the 4506 and the 1006. I dont see the 1006 running with a 14lbs spring. So whats the true weight of spring number 201610000?
