Hey all,
Looking to pick up a fixed sight 4506 later this year, just to tickle the 'Sonny Crockett' wanna-be deep within, but have a quick question.

I had one of these before, it had the stick 'em up straight razor type rear blade sight, great to slice your hand open or break off if hit wrong. If I pick up another one with these types sights (shown in the pic) is there a direct plug-and-play rear sight for these?

I checked Novak's sight and it looks as if their old low mount style would require milling to fit into it. I'd prefer a more modern low mount with tritium sights, but don't want to have to have the slide hacked on to get it done if I don't need to.

Hoping some of you far more knowledgeable than me on S&W 3rd Gens can tell me if these blades can be simply swapped for something else.

Thanks

True, but many that I'm seeing for sale around me have had those old style sights. Just like to know what'd fit instead, if I find a really nice, well priced version with those.

I finally resolved my 4506-1 sight problems. I had ordered OEM sights for it when I got the pistol some months back. I received the rear sight, but the front sight went on back order(read:discontinued!). I took the gun to my LGS yesterday, thinking that I had a front sight that would fit, but I was wrong. They offered to pop the tritium vial out of the original front sight(very dead night sights)& replace it with a white dot. They installed my new rear sight, too. I hope to have a chance to shoot tomorrow & see what difference it made. I can already tell how much easier it is to pick up the front sight.

The old rear sight cut looks the same as a 645, you might try searching for 645 sight options and see what you can come up with.

I think you might have to get the slide milled to fit the Novaks.
