Thanks guy's, I appreciate the info.
My ignorance led to me mis identifying the gun as a "Victory Model".
I kept wondering why it didn't have a "V" in the serial number, now I know.
Theres not a day that goes by that I don't learn something on this forum.
Thanks again.

A local shop has blued 6" Victory Model in 38 S&W.
I dont't see to many 6" Victory's, is this BBl length scarce?
It's got the standard British proofs and still has the lanyard ring and is wearing post war diamond magnas for grips.
SN is 734XXX and the number is pushed to the rear of the grip...

Turnaround for my M500 was about 8 weeks. I dropped it off on November 30th last year and had it back the last week of January. Figuring down time for the holidays it wasn't that bad.
The other two were a different story ( I had them done the summer of 2003 )and they ran about 16 weeks for the...
I have had several guns re finished by ROBAR.
2 revolvers and one semi auto.
This 29-3 ws formerly blued and now wears ROBARS NP# finish:
I had them do a two tone finish on this one. Originaly I wanted it all done in ROGUARD but they told me that the gases generated by the 500 S&W...
I had a Bushnell Holo Sight on my 8 3/8' M500 and it lasted about 200 rounds. Recoil completely destroyed it.
I put another Bushnell red dot on it and it lasted about half that.
Bushnell would not warranty repair either as they state that they are not rated for the recoil of the 500.

Please let us know how this turns out.
I know Smith & wessson will take care of you but we would really like to know what caused the failure.

A local pawnshop has on in the display for $650.00. No Box No papers.
I have one in my safe I bought brand new back in December of 1982 and if I had a nickle for every round I've fired thru it, I could buy every chinaman in the world a Cadillac.
I got my money's worth out of it being...
If you do not handload, the 44 Magnum is the way to go.
You can get ammo at any Wal Mart and the number of offerings is considerable compared to the other two.
If you are set up to handload then any of the three would be as good as the other. Componenets for the 41 are limited but any bullet...
Strange that they didn't send any paperwork back covering what they did.
I sent my 500 in for a replacement cylinder and they sent the "old" cylinder back with the gun.
It had a note with it stating "DO NOT USE THIS CYLINDER IN THIS GUN".
I saw one at the Cabela's in Amarillo Texas for 599.00. They probably still have it as I thought it was over priced by a hundred bucks.
It had Hogue rubber grips and had been fired some but not a lot. It had no box or papers.
That's a start.
Yes, some of them do have problems ejecting/extracting.
Some times it's the ammo, sometimes it's the gun.
A few years ago I bought a used 8 3/8 6 shot 617 that was manufactured around 1990 and it would not eject/extract any brassed cased 22 lr ammo that was fired in it.
CCI Stingers would...
