Hey, watch it! I've been accused of being a S&W fanboy! Seriously thanks for all the replies and information. I know what I am paying would have bought much more gun a couple months ago. Honestly I hope everything settles down and I just threw a bunch of money away. If things go bad I might...
This might be a stupid question back but.... what's not legal about that set up? Unless that flash hider falls off while I'm at the range or something it should be good to go right?
Lets see
flat top with carry handle
BCG black.
Butt was a vltor ( couldn't remember all the letters)
not sure what the barrel is marked the lower is 556 and 223
the trigger was wider than stock and felt better than some I've tried lately.
about the staking and stuff, still clueless. I didn't...
First the gun in question is not an M&P. I know zilch about AR's, now they are hard to find and when you do there is a premium. I put a deposit down on one today and I'm hoping someone can tell me how much if any I over paid.
hope this pic offm my phone works.
DPMS machined lower

Wiregrass, its too late unless I see it at the next show. Not sure if it was originally nickel or not. I suspect the rework included the re-barrel and possibly the nickel finish. I wish I had paid closer attention to the stocks though. I do remember they were bob horn magnas but I don't remember...
Hit the show late yesterday. I passed on a snubbie square butt. The serial number was either 208417 or 208267. I don't remember exactly it was pretty low though. There weren't any letter prefixes. All the prewar features except it was wearing high horn magnas. Didn't pull the stocks to see the...
I'm sure a real expert will chime in but... Somewhere in the teens or twenties S&W started heat treating the cylinders. Most folks do not recommend "hot" loads in those. I had one from the late teens that wasn't heat treated. Only problem I ever had with my normal loads was not related to the...
Cool thanks for the info. I wonder why it doesn't have all the other proof marks? Like the ones I've seen on Victory's. The tons per square inch on the barrel and cylinder. And not English made. Or was all that only done in Great Brittan?
On the stocks they are period correct and look like they belong to this gun but I do not see any evidence of serial number penciled on either panel. They aren't in great shape with some chopping and checkering wear. What you would expect for a good.period of use after 90 something years.
I have...
MD will get some rimz! I do not feel hurt at the price, just wondering how I did. Another question since the blue has been stripped off what are my best finish options? Anyone in Alabama do a decent blue job? I don't want it buffer out or polished up just protected.
First I had to re-register. My old handle was bagolden. It's.been a while since I could visit due to work stuff which lost my email account I registered with, then I forgot my password ... Any way I just purchased an HE marked .455. It's in great mechanical condition. The finish has been removed...
Beagle, sorry! To answer your question is yes those are hard enough for higher velocity loads. Most commercially cast bullets are. In real rough rule of thumb terms. Lead towards the breach bullet too hard for the load. Lead closer to the muzzle lubrication failure. If I remember right the...
