I ran across a 29-2 today. It does have some cosmetic issues, I wish I could post a pic or two, but lacking the pics there is almost no turn line. Not God awful holster wear, the biggest detractor is one of the previous owners name electric penciled on the grips and under the trigger on the frame. So my two questions are this with a gun in 90% overall condition and a serial number of N386432 shooter grade piece what is the approximate date of manufacture and value?

The barrel is between 6 and 6 and 1/2" long. Didn't have a ruler but it was just over a dollar bill between the muzzle and cylinder face.

Thanks Gary!! Anyone know if the stocks would have been numbered to the gun in this issue range. Sorry but most of my S&Ws are pre model number and everything is serial numbered.

It would be difficult to imagine paying over $500 as described, unless the "engraving" can be removed without a complete refinish.

murphy,
Yeah I was thinking 450 max top dollar. I already have a .44 Mag shooter. Plus the -2 does not have the endurance package which means the rounds I put through my other .44 would rattle it loose pretty quick.

Keep in mind that the initials on the grips could be removed as a Christmas Present from a friend of yours on your route. :)
I'm on board with the $400-450 max range as a "shooter".
