Nice looking revolver. I recently purchased my first one, and it is an absolute blast to shoot. Enjoy it! BTW: I don't think that's a 686, open the cylinder and look on the frame (where the crane covers the frame) for the model number.

You're right. After shooting inexpensive .22 pistols/rifles, I guess I don't know how good I have it with this revolver. :)

No, it works fine. I'm just not used to this 'light' pull. Probably just need to shoot it more and get used to it.

My new to me 686-4 has a trigger pull that is too light. Is there an easy adjustment (strain screw or something) that I fiddle with to change the pull? I did have a 'smith look at it after I bought to see if the previous owner had worked on the internals, and it looks as though he did not. So...

Thanks for the info concerning calling S&W. Just got off the phone with Joe @ S&W- very friendly and quickly gave me the product code, plus firing date, and shipping date. Off to scour the SCSW to see (if anything) I can find.

686 plus-4 serial cckxxxx, so I can figure out manufacture date, but I was curious about some the items under the product code.

I just received a copy of the 3rd Edition of SCSW in order to do some research on my newly acquired 686. I'm trying to figure out where I can find my revolver's product code. The book mentions a couple of times that the product code can be found on the box. Well, I bought this at a pawn shop...

Just cleaned, polished, and waxed my new to me 686, and now I have a fingerprint magnet (but it does look good). [Normal guncleaning, mother's polish, and flitz gun wax.] Is that just the way it is, or is there something else I can do to keep it safe from corrosion and those pesky fingerprints...
