I know that the gun is littered with MIM parts, I was able to get all forged replacement parts except the hammer. I was really hoping to replace it, I guess I'll go with tomcatt51 and get an old one, it is hard to beat that quality.
I have a question about a FMFP 586, can it get converted to a hammer mount firing pin. Or can I take a pinned hammer and remove the firing pin and use it in a FMFP revolver. I know there is going to be some fitting but I really want to get rid of the MIM hammer in a newer gun. Thanks
Still need help
I just want to clarify, I just want a real steel hammer and trigger for my new 586 it has a FMFP (frame mounted firing pin). I did some research and I believe I can put and forged case hardened trigger from an older 586, it is my understanding that most triggers are...
Does anyone know if there is a company out there that makes a CNC or non MIM hammer for a new style 586. I was able to find a trigger but no luck on a hammer.
That is sound advice I'm going to try that drill of having a buddy load the cylinder and me shoot it. I'll also buy some snap caps and dry fire practice with the gun. I did notice that my Highway patrol has a serrated trigger and the 627 PC has a smooth trigger. Also one kinda dumb question...
I recently acquired my dream gun a S&W 627 PC and I'm having some issues shooting it accurately. First I want to give a little background about myself. I shoot a fair amount about 200 rds a week, with that said I have owned and shot a lot of guns at my ripe old age of 30. I started to notice...
Not really sure on the 4516 but the 629-5 mountain gun seems a bit high for a 4" 44mag. With that said if the gun is in good condition, is it blued or SS, is it older(pinned barrel/pinned hammer). For the most part the run of the mill 629 should be about 600-650 for a gun in great shape. I'm...
Thanks to all for the replies to hkcavalier I have a lobo holster on the way so I never really planned for IWB this gun might be kind of a tank for that. To SmithNut thanks for awesome pictures, I did contact Smith and Wesson but do to what is going in Washington they are really backlogged and...
I have finally done what I thought was impossible, I have in my opinion the perfect smith and wesson. The look, the feel, and the shootablity is everything that I wanted and have been searching for. I'm a hard core .357 shooter and love the 686 frame, but last summer I put my hands on a S&W...
I have a S&W 627 PC that comes factory with moon clips, and I really don't see an advantage in them. Like BobR1 stated brass is all different and the bullets tend to "flop" around, I'm sure this can be fixed if you only shot one brand of brass and get moon clips cut to the right thickness...
I have a very nice Smith and Wesson 28-2 highway patrol for sale. It is an N serial number so the standard book of Smith's dates it around 1974. It is the target model with the Target grips and ribbed trigger. I put the gun at 90% and it has all the oringinal paperwork and box. The only thing...

I have the 686 Talo 3" it is a great gun but like said earlier it is a base 686 with a nice set of grip (even though I don't like them) and an unfluted cylinder. I carried mine for a year, but I just got a 686 with a 2" barrel and i'm in the process of decking it out...
I have a set of S&W factory J-frame round butt target grips 1965 and a set of Eagle Hertiage K/L-frame round butt target grips (rosewood). These grips are just like the old target grips not like the new thin ones that Smith sells now
J-Frame Grips- $65 shipped-sold
K/L-Frame Grips-$85...
Big help
Thank you all for the insight, I have played around on customizing some 1911's but never a revolver. Then I bought a Wilson Combat which in my eyes is a PC smith. I sold the WC because I likley the wheelguns, but anyway. I think that I will start a project gun and tune it just the...
