    Pre-28 Highway Patrolman

Thanks for all the replies. No box or other goodies. The stocks are 121423 so they are right period but not a match. If anyone has the revolver S121423 let me know and I'll give you a great deal on some matching stocks!:D All in all pretty much confirmed that I have a nice shooter (which it is!)

    Pre-28 Highway Patrolman

I stumbled across this beauty at a Cabella's a while back and got it at a nice price. I don't see a lot of these pre-28 HPs. Serial number S130xxx puts it mid-50s. How scarce and any opinions as to value? I'm not selling but just curious.

    600 bucks

We're gonna need a picture of that 28!

How do you store your holsters?

I use the plastic storage drawers that fit under my bed. I have three: one for kydex semiautos, one for leather semiautos, and one for revolvers. Another set of drawers for mag and speedloader pouches.

    Home defense

not sure why we are limited to choosing a SHORT barreled revolver. I don't see any advantage of short over longer (4+") barrel and some possible disadvantages (shorter site radius and more muzzle blast). Anyway, my set-up is a Sig so I voted semi-auto just to vote, but I don't necessarily...

Going rate on a used 686 or 586

I think varmint243 has it about right for a 4" gun in good shape without box and papers...$550-700. You will find a few asking more but you should be able to find one in that range with a little hunting.

    'Lawyer locks"

so what did we decide? Are the ILs okay to use with +P loads??

You have $800 to spend and no S&W revolver yet but want one...what do you get?

I'll throw another vote in for a 4" L-frame in 357 mag...(686, 586, 681, or 581). Hard to beat the versatility and durability.

Got me a new stable mate for my 27-2 3.5"

Really nice! Love the stocks! 5" Model 27s are among my favorites...they just look "right"!

    No Flutes Allowed

Old thread, but I hadn't seen it before...Here are my four: 627-0 and 627-5 25-7 and 681-4 PC

What is your favorite single stack 9mm?

Tough choice for me between the HK PSP and the winner by a nose: Sig P239

    586s are now Pythons??

Wow! I know the "climbing prices" threads get tiresome, but this is crazy! Did anyone see the boxed 4" 586-3 that sold on GB for $2576 ?? Them's Python numbers! I love L-frames as much (or more) than the next guy but DANG! It was offered as unfired NIB and the pictures look like it...

Do you still have a certain "caliber" that you would like to bring to the collection?

Don't mind at all...Nothing specific wrong with either caliber, just that neither really grabbed me. I found the 327 Fed awfully snappy in the J-frame that I owned - certainly more so than 38 Sp+P IMO. The only gun I ever owned in 454 Casull was a Taurus Raging Bull, and I just didn't love the...

Do you still have a certain "caliber" that you would like to bring to the collection?

I really don't see me jumping into another handgun caliber...currently have 22 LR, 7.62 Tok, 38 sp, 38 Super, 357 mag, 357 Sig, 9 mm Luger, 9x18 makarov, 10 mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 41 mag, 44 mag in handguns. I've thought about a bigger bore revolver, but honestly I don't need one, and my...
