Is the 442 a "no rust" gun? I was going to get a 642, but if the 442 cylinder will not rust (coated with something, not just blued) then I'd rather get the black finish...

Sounds like a nice hunting pistol. Probably be easier recoiling, but probably have serious gas cutting at the top strap.

I was just at the gun show and saw a 2.5" stainless model 66, pinned barrel/recessed cylinder. Good shape except on the side without the sideplate, there was a bit of rust pitting (yes, it's SS, but had rust on this spot) about 1/4" round/irregular spot. Looked like someone had tried to clean...

What state are you located in?

The Altamont grips are VERY inexpensive ($35!) for a rosewood 3 finger grip. I paid $60 for a VERY similar grip at a gun show not too long ago.
