Say, let us know what you think about it when it gets here. I'd like to hear some non-commercial reviews of the E series. :)

Ditto! But I have to ask, what was holding you back? Dale

I would reply to that:

1 - The fish scales

2 - The scandium upcharge instead of an all steel option

But it is still pretty snappy looking and I'm sure it will be a nice piece.

Holding me back:

I don't need another gun

How many guns are too many?

Is this really a sign of OCD?

Reason to buy:

I only have a 6", 5" and 3" 1911's no 4"

Wife gave me a $100 gift cert to my local gun shop for Christmas

Had open heart surgery last year, time to get after that bucket list!

Sweet shooting 1911. I purchased mine from Buds several weeks ago. I really like the bobtail and weight, it will probably repalce my Kimber Ultra as my carry.

I got to hold one a couple of weeks ago. I'm waiting on my 5" stainless tac-rail for a duty gun to come in. I have to say I was impressed with the bobtail. I think that next year I may need one for off duty.

You lucky %$&*(@&%!!! Very nice weapon indeed! I may go after the Stainless E-Series with the tactical rail in a few months. Still trying to decide between that and a 460 Mag 8 3/8"... decisions decisions...

All joking and comic book swearing aside, congrats! Im jealous!.. :D

LOL! Maximumbob54, ok I can relate to the scandium upcharge, but being a former froggie I don't have a problem with the fishscales. Matter of fact where are it's gills?;)
mtnbikerx: "How many guns or too many?" oh I figure one for every day of the year ought to be about right. Doubles for the ones you really like!;)
All kidding aside that's a really nice .45 congrats man! Dale

Paid roughly $300 below msrp (less my $100 gift cert)

I prefer to buy local so I paid 5% sales tax vs online (Buds) but my local GS knows me and quotes me the best deal to compete with online retailers. He asked me,"how does that look compared to Bud's?" I told him I didn't check.

These are produced about 200 miles north of here in Houlton, Maine so local availability "may" be effected by that. Although my local FFL had to place it on backorder.

I've got a 6" Super Hawg, a 5" Kimber Tactical Custom with a Cylinder and Slide trigger job and a 3" Kimber Ultra to compare this to. When I finally get the weapon and get to the range I'll post up my impressions.

that's a beauty!
when you get tired of it you can send it to me :p

Very nice! I hate to go look up the price now because I want one.

LGS just called and told me they got an e-mail on the pick slip notice. :D
That's why I do business local.

Ehhhh, is it worth it?

I haven't seen the E series, but I am impressed by the M&P group. That said, you can probably guess I am all for form matching function and value in a weapon.

How does the E series compare to the new Springfield Range Officer which retails for about $300 less?

"Is it worth it?"

Probably not, but that's a relative expression. Is a $12,000 snowmobile worth it? Is a Denali worth $40,000? I guess it depends on how it makes the purchaser feel -- buying this pistol for this price makes me feel pretty good. So it's "worth it" to me.
