There have been a few threads about the E-Series, one not that long ago. I've owned a few 1911's from various manufacturers and my E-Series is one of the nicest shooting 45's I've shot. You definitely won't go wrong with any of the S&W 1911 models.
I've now bought three 1006's and one had the straight grip. The second came with Hogues which I find too large. I have another one on the way also with the straight grip. I've had curved on other pistols and I prefer the straight.
I'd say order a straight and you could always order the...
I quite liked my 4516-1, it shot very tight groups. I regret selling it. It was a one of a kind with a compensator that looked factory installed. Congrats on your new purchase.
Used to? Do you know something the rest of us don't know? I just checked the Smith and Wesson website and the 1911 E-Series is still listed as a currently offered model. I have one and like another comment said I prefer it over Sig Sauer 1911's I've owned. It's a great pistol.
Whoever did the Cerakote did a fantastic job. If you hadn't told us I'd think that was a factory Melonite coating. Nice purchase, I'd be happy to have that as part of my collection!
More paperwork
The last page of the Safety and Instructional Materials booklet plus another booklet pertaining to the same thing. Also Assembly Instruction for the Model 645 magazine.
I have one from a little later
How about one that shipped May 1, 1986? Mine is NIB with everything from the factory. I took photos of every piece of paperwork.
I know of a gunsmith in the Vancouver BC area that converts 3rd gen pistols to a longer barrel and he can thread them. However he is notoriously slow and I gave up on him converting a pistol for me after more than six months waiting. How he stays in business is beyond me. If you want his info...
I own two anniversary models and one was used in IPSC competition. It came with eight magazines and is in great shape. The other one is like new and came with the factory box. I bought it from the original owner and it came with ten magazines. They are truly built solidly and fit your hand...
I received my invoice and have the serial number which is UCK7683. I did see a photo from the FFL importer and there is visible wear on the pistol. This definitely looks like it was carried. I'd hoped to get one in better condition but when you buy one of the last ones this is to be expected.
