    Model 65

I just picked this one up a week ago ... police trade-in. Before I picked it up I was thinking I'd trick it out with some nice grips, but after holding it thought better of that and may just leave it like it is.

    Newly acquired .38 M&P Special

I do love history, Charlie, and I'm going to have fun with this. My cousin is the Chief Scientist at the National Archives and my son is a credentialed researcher at the Library of Congress, so I think I'll have some fun detailing this find. The PPC building is the Public Policy Council...

And the Model 66 that I asked about? It's okay, nothing special, but it is a very nice gun. The letter does note that the grips and the thumb button are different than what was shipped .... but it is a P&R model. So it's def worth the $250 I paid for it.

Got my letter! And it's some really good news .... I'm going to do a little research and see if I can get acquainted with LtCol Cooke!

    "The 1917 Army (Postwar-Transitional)

There's a bucket load of Oglesby's in the military, amazingly, but one name keeps coming up: Fulton L Oglesby. I found an enlistment record for this guy dated 10 Jan 1945, born in 1909, which makes him a bit older than the Oglesby noted above to have been living in Sumter County (one county...

    Model 19 & 66 - is 2 1/2" worth more?

As far as carry goes, you're absolutely correct. But I still see a lot of worth in a 4" or 6" revolver in my bedside table or tucked under my desk.

    Most desirable mdl.66

Thanks for the responses, fella's, I appreciate that. Nice little history lesson to boot.

    Most desirable mdl.66

My only 66, a -2 that I found in a pawn shop for $250.00. It didn't have a cylinder release, and I got the wrong one in the mail from S&W, but that can be fixed. I have to plead ignorance though: what is pinned and recessed, or P&R?

Model 66 no dash is here. Pic's

I absolutely love my M66 4", it's the first hand gun I purchased and my son has requested I specify it to him in the will. It's just so much fun to shoot that thing. Congratulations, you bought a nice weapon.

Backyard Range w/65+ yds to work with... Thoughts?

kingranch's idea is cool, but I'm wondering what a day with a rented bobcat might get you? Could you dig a trench, to lower your standing height about three or four feet, and use the dug out earth as a berm behind you? And, just to be safe, put the railroad ties in a rectangular fashion, with...

    Expected turnaround for S&W letter?

Yee-hah dude. I can't wait, actually. The M&P that I've requested is as intriguing as the Model 66 that I've asked about. I'm really looking forward to getting a letter back from Mr. Roy.

Just an additional note: when I sent my form, I added my model 66 just for kicks. I'm hoping that's not really anything special -- because the Model 66 truly was a Florida pawn shop find!

Just out of curiousity, any idea how long it takes for Roy Jinks to work his magic? He does have a cool job though! :) Given what I've learned so far, I seriously doubt this one will ever leave my collection ... at least as long as I'm able to maintain it. Thanks again for all the info received.
