    Smith and Wesson 640-Experiences?

Remember if you bob the spur off the hammer of your Model 60 you still retain the single action cocking option.

    Convert 32-20 to 32 H&R

Anything the 32 Magnum can do the 32-20 can do better. The Mag. uses a 95 gr. bullet whereas the 32-20 uses a 115 gr. The 32-20 is a more reliable rifle round due to its bottleneck shape.

An old oddity: .44 Special 4" with Chrome Lined Bore

Did the chrome plating reduce the bore diameter?

    Burn Marks on 586 Cylinder

If you use the Lead Away cloth you will likely remove the bluing. I take a cleaning patch soaked in solvent to clean and remove powder and lead from the front of the cylinder. I don't worry or try to remove all of it as long as it doesn't affect the function of the gun. The next time I shoot it...

    Just cancelled my 686 order

rotty, I am curious as to why you cancelled your order. Did you have a deposit you wanted back or is it something to do with your countries regulations? If it was neither I would kept my order until I found something else. Oh demand for guns will continue to be going up here due to having two...

A friend in Alaska has asked me what’s the best 4” 629?

Nothing is a free ride. A lighter weight handgun is going to have more recoil especially the hotter with the load. How you distribute the weight will make more difference than a lighter gun. Take a look at Simply Rugged holsters. Cattleman My choice; Chesty Puller Conversion System

    681 or 686-3.... selling one

I find the fixed sights on the L-Frame hard to pick up. If you are looking for rugged set of sights consider Cylinder and Slide extreme fixed rear sight that replaces the adjustable factory rear sight on the 686. With a higher front sight blade it should be easir to pick up.

    J-Frame Not Holding Single-Action Cocking

It is usually not very difficult to tell when the sideplate has been removed. Unless you used the proper fitting screwdrivers expressly made for S&W's the slots will show deformation however slight. In addition the internal parts will show where they they where removed unless you once again you...

    J-Frame Not Holding Single-Action Cocking

+1. From your posts it seems clear that the problems you are having are a result of your "gunsmithing" efforts. The first thing you need to do is to quit screwing around with the gun. The second thing is put it back in the box, tape it shut and put it on a shelf somewhere. Contact S&W for...

just got my mod 36 back from plating!

Why screw around withthe Post Office when you can ship your firearm via UPS or FedEx regular ground. Don't tell me it isn't legal because I regularly recieve firearms shipped from dealers regular ground.

Model 29-2 Nickel: Bore solvent stains on the plating

I would be concerned on deep the stains go. If they are deep enough the solvent may have loosen the bond between the gun and the finish causing the finish to start peeling.

S&W Model 66 No dash Unfired since factory

As the others said with a stainless steel gun you really can't. I have a 66 for that my wife mainly shot years ago. Never been in holster and no dings. It sits in the orginal blue box with the cleaning rod and all of the factory manuals (I think there are four of them). I could easily pass this...
