I've had one of these for 6months and have been very happy with it. I've also used the burris, they seem to be the exact same scope. I would not hesitate to buy another.
I agree that the PC model may not be worth the extra money accuracy wise. I purchased one because of the difference in parts. The PC model comes with a better (my opinion) VLTOR stock, grip, 4.5 lb trigger, and 18" fluted barrel. I think this is definitely worth the extra $200.

I've never liked the gold bead front sight on my 627 PC.

I owned the Colt/Umarex for one day, before taking it back. I had several FTF, FTE. Once you get past the looks, it's a piece of junk. Try to dry fire it (if they will let you). I could not believe how terrible the trigger was.

If you will be happy with the stock version, then don't spend the extra money.

To answer some of your questions:
The "spring" people are talking about is a hammer and trigger spring. The PC version already has a lighter trigger than the other models. The stock PC trigger breaks around 4 1/2...
